Samba 3.0.4 + Veritas Backup Exec
Hi all, Wondering if anyone can help me here? Having just upgraded from Samba 3.0.2a to Samba 3.0.4, I've found that Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 is no longer able to browse my shares. A quick "make revert" and everything is back as it should be. The things I see in the samba log are like this: [2004/05/19 12:46:40, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum(619) titanium

Joining samba-2.2.x to a domain.
A little background info before I begin. I'm using samba-tng as a PDC (netbiosname 'TITANIUM' and the domain 'FOO') and samba-2.2.7a as a fileserver (netbiosname 'HAILSTORM') on the same machine. (different interfaces) The PDC is all set up and I've joined several windows 2000 clients and I encounterd no real problems. But all the files on the samba-2.2.a

Ndiswrapper refuses to install?
Hi everyone! :-) I have a problem with making a wireless USB dongle work under CentOS 6. The dongle is known to not work natively under Linux and last time I used it (cca 3 years ago) I managed to get it working using ndiswrapper. This time I was hoping to make it work again in the same way. But the "yum install kmod-ndiswrapper" reports the following (among other regular stuff):

[LLVMdev] Can I port LLVM as a source-to-source compiler?
Hello, I am working in a project on a parallel programming language. I want to base our language on Java or C/C++. But Java is preferred. Many similar projects adopts a source-to-source methodology, e.g., Berkeley UPC(using Open64), Titanium, and Rice University's Co-array Fortran. They output C code with calls to the runtime. I think there are at least three reasons: 1) using C as the

FTS search with CLucene giving odd results/exposing config issue
I recently got FTS search with Clucene working on FreeBSD 10.1 (I had some trouble with 9.3, postponed solving it, then restarted with 10.1 by manually installing libtextcat, a listed dependency on http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/FTS/Lucene, but not part of the FreeBSD makefile: maybe that helped, maybe it was irrelevant). However, I now get some anomalous results. I'm putting them together

starting haldeamon on 6.2

I am fully upto date with yum. (x86_64 ) Very puzzling. I have other boxes running just fine. Its just this one being stubborn. Any thoughts. Did a bunch

Failed to parse template ... private method 'split' called for :undef:Symbol - github - puppetlabs/puppet-dhcp
Hi Puppet Users, Puppet Version - v2.7.13 Ruby Version - ruby 1.8.7 (2010-08-16 patchlevel 302) [i486-linux] I am trying to use the Puppetlabs DHCP module (https://github.com/puppetlabs/puppet-dhcp) to setup a DHCP server on one of my nodes. I have followed the example in the readme.md file in my node declaration for the server (extracted part below) class { ''dhcp'':

Mac and Excel
Not having a Mac in front of me, but having a consultee with one, I pose the following question: Is there an easy way to transfer a Mac excel data set (columns, etc) into R (only on a Mac)? Verified existence of such a thing would be great; I've been uncertain as to the best way to get data in/out of R (on the mac, of course). An actual algorithm/procedure would be met with great rejoicing.

access denied with samba share
I had the same problem as well and finally found a solution. Some additional notices: - I can access subdirectories of the share, e.g. attempting to access \\server\share gives "access denied", \\server\share\data works. - Other XP Pro clients do not have this problem. - The problem does not occur with a share served by Samba 2.2.3a. - The problem does not occur after booting XP in

USB flash drive stopped working properly....
This past Tuesday (2/22/07) my flash drive started acting really strange - it only worked intermittently and would disappear right after an access or two. Yesterday it stopped working altogether - I couldn't even access it through my WinXP-on-VMWare. I rebooted my machine, and it worked fine after that. Is there some time limit on how long a USB flash drive will work in CentOS or is this a

Wine and 3D rendering issues
Hi everyone, I hate to ask n00bish questions, but after several days of forum scouring and searching for answers, I'm at a loss as to where to go next. I'm a long-time Linux CLI user, but I haven't really played with Wine or many aspects of the GUI-end until recently. I've been trying to get two of my favorite Windows games to run on my Debian Testing install, and keep coming to

u2f seed
How does a u2f website then authenticate the same user, with the same keyfob, on a different machine? If that actually works, then we should be able to use the same mechanism. Maybe it doesn't, and some people are going to be locked out of their account when their machine fails and they have to go to another one. portability was one of the selling points of u2f though I thought. Maybe I'll

what to do about [abrt] full crash report kernel taint?
I have a machine with a recent install of centos (2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64 kernel). It crashed 3 times this week, and sent emails like the one below complaining about kernel taint. I've gone back to a previous kernel to see if that helps, but otherwise I don't know how to investigate this. What should I do? Here's stuff from the log and one of the emails:
