Hype The Time Quest Regression
There's an old Ubisoft game called "Hype the Time Quest".
For many Wine versions, Wine could not get past the Hype installer. It would go up to 117% and fail. Then a version came where if you unchecked the DirectX check, the install would work (or maybe that's all you had to do to begin with). But the game would fail to start with an error about MaiD3Dvr_bleu.exe. Then a Wine

Special Place for Wine's Programs?
Is there a special place for the programs that actually come with Wine (winefile, winecfg, Wine's notepad, Wine IE, etc.) like the AppDB, but just for them?
Because I was wondering, say for example, someone found a bug in winefile. Where would the corresponding AppDB[oid] page be for winefile to attach that bug to? It would be nice to go to a page and see all the known bugs for such a

Is this a Wine bug or a Gnome/Metacity bug?
With the Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder running in Wine in Linux with Gnome/Metacity, the syncing of the "Always On Top Status" is one-way.
Under tools, Keyfinder has an "Always On Top" option. If you put the window into "Always On Top" mode via the keyfinder's option under tools, when you right-click on the window bar, you will see that, according to

Is there a way to protect Wine?
This may seem weird, but is there a way to ensure that an installer cannot destroy your wine files? I have a game that, I think, may try to install some weird directX stuff without giving you the option, but I'm not sure, and I don't want to ruin my other games. I installed it once and Jazz Jackrabbit 2 stopped working, but that may have been the cause of something else.
So...what can I

Office 2007
Hi there again!
I have installed Office 2007 under wine vista without incidents but when I try to open its applications I get .exe has encountered a problem and it needs to close.
I need wine to be vista because I have another program which will flicker in xp.
If I install Office under wine xp everything works fine.
What should I do?
Thank you!

BIOS Flash?
I know, I probably gave a lot of people heart attacks just from that title.
I'm not saying that I would actually try flashing my BIOS with WINE, I was just wondering, purely out of theoretical curiosity, if it's even possible to flash the BIOS by initiating an "exe" BIOS flasher from within WINE.
I would suspect not, given that WINE "can't even" run Windows

I think I messed up DirectDraw.
I tried to run a demo of Hype: The time quest (Windows 95/98, uses directX6 or some glide3 for 3D stuff) to see if it would work. It installed, but comes up with a weird "Cannot find a game using directdraw" error. I uninstalled it and went about my way. While it would be cool to have this run, that is not my main problem.
Now, I cannot run Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (also windows 95/98--runs

Suddenly wine has a problem
Wine has been working perfectly over the last few months, and suddenly today I seem to be having this problem when I have not modified anything since the last time I sued wine.
I should also point out, I have made no configuration changes to wine to cause this issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can fix the problem. Thanks

Let's put it this way...thank you all! The trick is to get the font files in the font folder as well as in the registry. Earlier, in the back of my mind, I was wondering if it was a registry issue, but I wasn't ready to go there and didn't know at the time where fonts

Gstreamer Help?
I have this program called ChemDraw that I use for school. It was working great yesterday in WINE 1.3.26. Then I get the bright idea to upgrade 1.3.27. Now ChemDraw doesn't work. So I'm trying to compile WINE 1.3.26 from source so that I can run ChemDraw in 1.3.26.
I get this error when trying to compile 1.3.26:

How Functional is Wine's IE supposed to be?
I haven't said much about this, but Wine's Internet Explorer has never really worked as web browser.
I understand that the main purpose of Wine's Internet Explorer isn't to be a web browser, but to make Windows programs that require MS IE work.
That said, one of the Wine 1.4 release criteria is "Builtin iexplore, Gecko". So I figured I should ask, "How functional

Problem with automatic mounting of disc drive (Ubuntu 11.10)
Hi!
First of all, WINE is great! There is only one little inconvenience for me: I am using WINE 1.2 under Ubuntu 11.10. It automatically mounts CDs and DVDs at /media/(disc name). So whenever I insert a new disc, I have to change the configuration of WINE which is a bit annoying. I could not find any help via Google. On ubuntuforum.org I was told to point WINE to the device itself (/dev/sr0)
