"rename3" ethernet NIC?
Hello listmates, Bizarrely enough, I ended up with what I intended to be called "eth1" being called "rename3". Would anybody have any idea what the cause could be of this? Thanks. Boris.

getting a CentOS6 VM on VMware ESXi platform to recognize a new disk device
Hello Julius, Thanks - but it doesn't seem to work. I installed sg3_utils and ran #scsi-rescan but that seemed to have done nothing for some reason. Cheers, Boris. getting a CentOS6 VM on VMware ESXi platform to recognize a new disk device
Hello all, Is there a way to recognize a hot-plugged disk (i.e., to get the system to recognize it and build the appropriate /dev/sd* device for the new device) without a reboot? Thanks. Boris.

After a long break, one more try at bond/bridge nics
took a couple months off due to road blocks, hoping a fresh look would allow me to use my server as desired. I have three ports, eth0-2 over two nics. I want to bond them, and then use a bridge to connect to virtual machines on the virtual host computer. Never having done this, I am confused on some parts. Here is where I am at now and any pointers helpful. Single server, centos 6.x My issue

[HOWTO] Running Xen 4.0 host (dom0) with Redhat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL6)
Hello, If you''re interested in running Xen 4.0 hypervisor/dom0 on RHEL6, take a look at here: http://wiki.xen.org/xenwiki/RHEL6Xen4Tutorial It explains steps needed to rebuild Xen 4.0.1 src.rpm from Fedora on RHEL6, and how to fetch dom0 capable 2.6.32.x kernel from upstream git repository. It also shows how to get libvirt/virt-manager working with Xen on RHEL6. Hopefully it helps :)

open-vm-tools on CentOS 6
Hello all, As far as which VMWare tools to use - the ones from VM Ware or the open-vm-tools available through the EPEL - is there any consensus on what is better? I know that for CentOS 7 you are told to use open-vm-tools but what is the situation with CentOS 6? Thanks. Boris.

Install C7 VM on C6 Host
I would think the same as Gordon that as long as your 64-bit VM virtualization is running properly there should be no problem running C7 on a VM running under C6. May I ask what the initial doubt was based upon? Has anybody out there had such an issue before? Cheers, Boris. Advice sought: Virtual Win7 on Centos 6.2
Folks I have a new laptop running Centos 6.2 64-bit. I'd like to put a virtual machine running Windows 7 (licensed), with full audio/video functions, and good response. Which virtual system would you recommend? I can think of KVM, or VirtualBox, or ...? The "good response" requirement pretty much excludes a web-style video presentation. Opinions solicited. CentOS in low RAM settings
Hello listmates, I have been playing with Xen VM's and was wondering what the minimum RAM size in which you could run CentOS 5.5 (i386). So far I managed to install in 256 MB or 512 MB and then shrink the VM's RAM to 128 MB and still run the installation. Would anyone know why the install in a 128 MB VM fails (even in text mode)? Thanks. Boris.
