High load while printing a Word document
Hello!
Sometimes I have problems printing a particular Word document on a
Windows XP machine. The printing takes very long and the server load/CPU
are very high.
I set the log level = 3 printdrivers:10 and got an
STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW error (see logfile-extract below)
On the client side I use MS Office 2003 SP3 and Windows XP SP3.
The postscript-driver of Lexmark X464 is configured as

3.0.10 with printing patch, NULL devmode, failing to fetch tdb and buffer overflow
Hi Jerry, hi @all,
some users with 3.0.10 with printing patch have problems with old printjobs in her status monitor in windows. Loglevel 10 shows two problems:
1. The devmode for this printer was not set properly (I know, thiswill cause problems).
log.smbd:
[2005/01/05 14:02:09, 8] rpc_parse/parse_spoolss.c:smb_io_reldevmode(2407)
boing, the devmode was NULL
2. A buffer overflow is logged.

the same credentials.
What's going on?

I think this wont work since the user connectig isnt known in the AD,
since the user connecting is mapped to user nobody.

winbindd problem - STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW (0x80000005)
Hi everyone,
i've got a little (at least i hope its a minor one) problem with winbind.
General information about the system:
- GNU/Linux 2.4.25-2tr
- samba-3.0.2-4tr
Samba successfully joined the ads (w2k servers), wbinfo -u and -g are
working
perfectly. If i try to authenticate a user with wbinfo or with ntlm_auth

issues with printing
We have recently started having an odd problem with printing via samba (3.6.1). Samba is joined via security = ads to our domain. We do not use winbind on this system. Our account usernames are provided via openldap.
User starts system (generally windows 7 64bit, but we've seen it on 32bit windows 7 and XP), sometimes they can print, sometimes they can't. If they reboot, they can almost

dual boot linux/winxp, winbind
We have a bunch of dual-boot boxes (linux/winxp). I'd like to be able
to use winbind (against ads) for user authentication on the linux side,
but it appears samba has to join the AD too. Upon joining the AD under
linux/samba, it makes the windows side of things stop working (machine
account has been modified).
In the past, when using an NT4 domain, I was able to tell samba to use a

Unable to print to SAMBA+CUPS server from Win2k12 server
I'm stumped! From within CUPS, I'm able to successfully print test
pages.
From the Windows machine, I'm able to:
* Browse the Samba server's printers via SMB
* Add the Samba server's printers
* Write to the Samba server's print$ share
If I pause the printers via CUPS's interface, then Samba successfully
relays this information when I try printing a test page from the

Printer upload problem
Hi there,
We have 4 samba print servers we use for our 3000 users. they're
configured to automatically distribute printer drivers to our windows
clients.
Recently, we have added a Xerox WorkCenter 5638 monster.
But we're unable to upload the driver to the samba server throught
print wizzard as windows admin. We've tried PCL, PCL 6, and PS drivers

samba-3.4.7 & access to share from win7
Hello list,
I have tried rather much (forums, google) and trying this as the last option. The problem is that one is not able to access "group" samba shares from windows 7 machines, everything ok from win-ts-2003 & xp machines. Every user belongs to his primary group defined in samba+openldap pdc. If they want to access the share named according to their primary group (with

winbind authentication fails with STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW
Using samba-3.0.10-1.4E.2 as supplied by RedHat Enterprise 4. Using
security=ADS mode, and using winbind and pam_winbind to authenticate.
I was able to sucessfully join the domain, and can enumerate users and
groups.
Whenever I try to authenticate, it always fails with the status
STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW.

printing problems and permissions
I've got Samba 2.2.3 running as a PDC for some Win9x and WinNT
clients. Everything seems to be fine except that occasionally (but
rather often, at least every second day) printing from one of the
NT-clients is impossible. In the log file it says (word wrap here in the
editor):

Mounting Linux Samba Shares on Windows when Active Directory Server is down
Hi,
I am running Samba 3.6.19 and making my way through all the Active
Directory documentation. I have joined various Linux boxes to a
Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory domain. Windows 7 users who
log on with their domain accounts can mount the correct shares exported
by the Linux boxes without having to supply any additional credentials.
All working perfectly!
However, I have a

Can't add machines to domain after Debian-Update
Guten Tag Samba-List,
after updating my Linux-Server from Debian Etch to Lenny, some of my
workstations (W2kSP4) couln't log into the domain. I removed the
machines from the domain, changed the name, created a new
machine-account, but I still can't add the machine to the domain.
My /etc/smb.conf (see below the logfile) is unchanged since Debian Etch.

continuous access to printer causes high memory usage
Hi list,
I am trying to track down a printer-related problem.
The most important symptom is a smbd process using almost all memory on
my machine (up to 800 MB, at the specific case of which I've posted the
logs.) At some point the VM will kill the smbd process, freeing the memory.
Apart from this, samba keeps on running fine.
Investigation of a level 3 debug log of this process has shown
