PAM session closes too soon
Hi. I'm trying to keep most of my data encrypted when possible, only keeping the decryption key in memory (and thus vulnerable to local attacks) when I'm actually using my data. In practice, this means using pam_mount to mount my home directory from an encrypted device. It almost looked like I could get this to work with mail as well, even when read via IMAP from a remote client: I

corrupt mdbox, force-resync segfaults
I could use some help with a corrupt mdbox. doveadm force-resync is crashing (see below), but I really need just to get this account functioning. What's my next step, as far as deleting index files? These were the earliest errors I could find: Nov 28 09:40:21 macy dovecot[6615]: imap(cory at metro-email.com): Error: Corrupted index cache file

Is there a tool to recover space used by refcount=0 messages in mdbox storage files? The wiki talks about it but it isn't clear where the tool is. Regards, Bill

Recover a deleted message in MDBOX format ?
Hello Every night a backup of all mailboxes is performed to a NFS mounted partition All our mailboxes are now in MDBOX format. I wonder how it would be possible to recover one email accidentally deleted by a user ? It was easy in MBOX format to extract and save it using mutt ( as root ) from the backuped mbox then re-copy it to the user's mbox. Of course I should access to the backup

Uncompressing dboxes
Hello. I have an mdbox directory that has been created with the zlib plugin active, using bzip2 compression. I would now like to convert these into uncompressed mdbox format. How do I do this? I have tried unsetting all zlib-related configuration options, but dsync still produces compressed mdbox at the other end, too. I guess I could convert to mbox, and then back to mdbox, but for

doveadm altmove fails to pack messages?
Hello again. When I use doveadm altmove, I notice that it may result in some very small storage files in either the primary or the alternate storage location. I'm not quite sure, but it almost seems like every storage file that contains messages to be moved is simply split into two parts, even if a part might only contain a single message. This seems quite curious, since the idea of

[dovecot-2.1.15] mdbox corruption, doveadm force-resync can't repair it (throws segfault)
Hi Timo, hi all! Today i noticed imap throws segmentation faults and dumps cores. I looked into logs I can see: 2013-03-07T12:12:52.257986+01:00 meteor dovecot: imap(marcinxxx at kolekcja.mejor.pl) <7sRXtFPXYAA+eX93>: Error: Corrupted dbox file /dane/domeny/mejor.pl/mail/marcin//.mdbox/mailinglists/storage/m.75 (around offset=2779212): EOF reading msg header (got 0/30 bytes)

Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
You can use mdbox_deleted driver to access mails with refcount 0. Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
Yesterday I had to recover an e-mail which a user had deleted. If I understand this correctly the message was expunged but not purged (doveadm purge had not been run). This e-mail was clearly still in the mdbox stored with zlib compression as I could tell using the doveadm dump command (doveadm dump -t dbox filename). I could however not reveal the e-mail with the normal doveadm fetch -u

Next onnv-gate resync & alpha release binaries.
I plan to resync the zfs-crypto gate to onnv_73 to pickup some zfs core fixes and not get too far behind. I''m also planning for alpha release set of binaries by 1st November. I''ll send an update of what the alpha binaries will have working nearer the time. -- Darren J Moffat

Resync raid1 from disk with unreadable sectors
Hello, After some fiddling with the server now I have broken RAID1 with the "current" mirror on the disk with few unreadable sectors. If I try to re-add other disk to the mirror resync goes till those bad sectors and then starts from the beginning. And so on. Is it possible to somehow force resync to continue even after errors? Manual resync with dd would require a bit too long

How long will CENTOS 4.X automatic resync to to time server???
We have several CENTOS 4 and 5 servers. ALL CENTOS servers have NTP setup to sync time server. Several days ago due to power outage all servers are reboot. Due to DNS server did NOT up quickly, CENTOS servers start up and can NOT find time server. For CENTOS 5.X servers, it did quickly resync to time server after 30 minutes. For CENTOS 4.X servers, it have been 3 days still NOT sync to time

raid resync speed?
Has anything changed in updates that would affect md raid1 resync speed? I regularly swap a 750G drive and resync to keep an offsite copy and haven't paid enough attention to known when things changed but it seems to take much longer to sync than it did months ago, even if I unmount the partition and stop most other processes that might compete with it. -- Les Mikesell

raid resync deleting data?
Hello, I have a c5 box with a 6 drive raid 6 array. I was going away over Christmas so I was shutting the machine down, I noticed a raid resync (on the raid 6 array) so i stopped it, using the command # echo "idle" > /sys/block/md5/md/sync_action then shut the machine down. A week later I turned the machine on and started copying data to it around 24 hours later a raid resync

Resync dovecot index after manual moving mails in maildir
Hello, i'm new to dovecot and this list. Dovecot works very well after all! I now have a small problem, maybe there is a solution. For automatically spam learning i've created a maildir folder called "spam learn". Every hour spamassassin scans this folder and learn from the mails or files at this folder. After this learn i move the files to trash. If at this moment a client

Resync quota to mysql script
I changed some quota options in my dovecot config (eg. excluded folders) but afaik this only affects new mail and there is no magic command to recalculate the quota (or is there?). So I wrote this little python script to do this, maybe someone finds it useful. It can output the sql statements (dovecot 1.0/1.1 and 1.2 format) or just print out quota usage to console. force-resync and replication
Hi list, I am using dovecot 2.2.27 (c0f36b0) on two servers with (dovecot) replication between them. I do not use dovecot-directors or -proxies. I just have a floating IP on the servers to do failover. I had the problem today that in one user's INBOX and one if his mailfolders got flooded with hundreds of thousands of duplicates. How this happened is another issue (of someone has an idea it
