3.3beta2 on centos 6.2 seems very broken
i have been playing with 3.3beta2 for a few weeks now and i can easily create inconsistencies between replicas. my first test was to start an rsync from a client using the gluster fuse code and then reboot one of the servers. after the rsync finishes, i can see that the replicas are out of sync (which is to be expected), so i start a self-heal via find. after that has run to completion, i

gluster map/reduce performance..
Hi, all, i try to check the performance of Map/Reduce of Gluster File system. Mapper side speed is quite good and it is sometimes faster than hadoop's map job. But in the Reduce Side job is much slower than hadoop. i analyze the result and i found the primary reason of slow speed is bad performance in Merging stage. Would you have any suggestion for this issue FYI check the blog

GlusterFS extended attributes, "system" namespace
Hi, I'm running GlusterFS 3.3.2 and I'm having trouble getting geo-replication to work. I think it is a problem with extended attributes. I'll using ssh with a normal user to perform the replication. On the server log in /var/log/glusterfs/geo-replication/VOLNAME/ssh?.log I'm getting an error "ReceClient: call ?:?:? (xtime) failed on peer with OSError". On the

Gluster Management Console
Hi, I am trying to set up the Gluster Management Console (backend servers - centos 6, glusterfs 3.3beta2, management gateway - centos 6). I can launch the java app and make it through the password changing screen. Then I choose "register" and input the cluster name and the IP of one of the backend servers. I made it through the part where I had to set the root password on the backend

Quota problems with Gluster3.3b2
Hi everyone, I'm playing with Gluster3.3b2, and everything is working fine when uploading stuff through swift. However, when I enable quotas on Gluster, I randomly get permission errors. Sometimes I can upload files, most times I can't. I'm mounting the partitions with the acl flag, I've tried wiping out everything and starting from scratch, same result. As soon as I

Recommended settings for geo-replication for folders with lots of files
Hi, I'm currently using GlusterFS in an installation and it works quite well. Only problem I'm currently facing is synching files to the slave on folders with lots of files (e.g. images). Is there some recommended way to speed this up? Synchronisation will take quite some time if there are changes in one of these folders. I tried to search the Gluster.org website or via google for a

Gluster-users Digest, Vol 41, Issue 16
Hi Phil, we?d the same Problem, try to compile with debug options. Yes this sounds strange but it help?s when u are using SLES, the glusterd works ok and u can start to work with it. just put exportCFLAGS='-g3 -O0' between %build and %configure in the glusterfs spec file. But be warned don?t use it with important data especially when u are planing to use the replication feature,

glusterd service fails to start from AWS AMI
Hello all. I have a working replica 2 cluster (4 nodes) up and running happily over Amazon EC2. My end goal is to create AMIs of each machine and then quickly reproduce the same, but new, cluster from those AMIs. Essentially, I'd like a cluster "template". -Assigned original instances' Elastic IPs to new machines to reduce resolution issues. -Passwordless SSH works on initial

Geo-replication broken in 3.4 alpha2?
Dear all, I'm running GlusterFS 3.4 alpha2 together with oVirt 3.2. This is solely a test system and it doesn't have much data or anything important in it. Currently it has only 2 VM's running and disk usage is around 15 GB. I have been trying to set up a geo-replication for disaster recovery testing. For geo-replication I did following: All machines are running CentOS 6.4 and using

Write performance in a replicated/distributed setup with KVM?
This has probably been discussed before, but since I'm new on the list I hope You have patience with me. I have a four brick distributed/replicated setup. The computers are multi-core 16GB memory and 2*2.0TB in raid1 SATA-disks locally. The nodes are connected by 1 GB ethernet. All nodes have glusterfs 3.3beta2 installed and they are running debian 6 64bit. The underlying filesystems are

Would difference in size (and content) of a file on replicated bricks be healed?
Hi... Started playing with gluster. And the heal functions is my "target" for testing. Short description of my test ---------------------------- * 4 replicas on single machine * glusterfs mounted locally * Create file on glusterfs-mounted directory: date >data.txt * Append to file on one of the bricks: hostname >>data.txt * Trigger a self-heal with: stat data.txt =>

ext4 and attributes, plus how to do reboots
i am playing with 3.3beta2 on centos 6.2 machines with ext4 for the bricks. should that work? i have enabled user_xattr on the mounts and i can manually set attributes, but i have never found anything set by gluster. is there code that explicitly checks for xfs? should i see attributes get set on the root of the bricks? on any kind of regular files? my setup is a simple two node mirror, and
