Mounting LVM disk
List Readers -
I have a Dell server that uses the Perc 6i controller and had 5 1Tb
disks installed (1 for OS and the other 4 in a Raid0 for a large storage
pool). The owner of the server wanted me to swap out the 1Tb disks for
2Tb disks - easy enough I thought, but I ran into some issues trying to
clone the OS disk to the new 2Tb disk, so I just did a re-install. So
basically we now have 5 2Tb

Map using projection
Hi list,
I have a real problem with plotting US state map. When I try to plot the
northern state, there will be some blank space in the top of graph (see case
1 example), and when I plot southern states, there will be a blank space in
the bottom of plot (see case 2). I spent almost 2 days to figure out a
solution, but could not. Would you help me if you know what the problem is?

"User's $HOME/.dmrc file is being ignored" after compilation
Each time I compile Wine and restart Ubuntu (8.04), there's an error just after I log in:
"User's $HOME/.dmrc file is being ignored. This prevents the default session and language from being saved. File should be owned by user and have 644 permissions. User's $HOME directory must be owned by user and not writable by other users."
These commands fix this, but when I

RgoogleMaps Axes

Strange error on login: $HOME/.dmrc?
Hi,
Since this morning, when I login, GDM gives me an error message on login
(it's in french, so I try to translate roughly):
$HOME/.dmrc has been ignored, but it is responsible for saving sessions.
It should not be writable for other users, and permissions should be 644.
Now I had a look at this ~/.dmrc, and permissions were rw-------. So I
did a chmod 644 on it (rw-r--r--) and logged

lapply with functions with changing parameters
Dear all,
I am trying to avoid a for loop here and wonder if the following is possible:
I have a data.frame with 6 columns and i want to get a cross-correlogram (by using ccf) . Obivously ccf only accepts two columns at once and then returms a list.
In fact, with a for loop i?d do the following
for (i in 1:6) {
x[[i]]=ccf(mydf[,i],mydf[,6])
}
Is there any chance to the same with

NaN with ccf() for vector with all same element
hello,
i have been using ccf() to look at the correlation between lightning and electrogamnetic data. for the most part it has worked exactly as expected. however, i have come across something that puzzles me a bit:

5.7 x86_64 DVD iso
I am trying to find a DVD iso that is not a torrent, and looking through
the mirrors I am unable to find one. Does anyone happen to have a mirror
or repository that they know of that carries the DVD iso for direct
download? I am behind a pretty strict firewall and am unable to do
torrents.
Thanks in advance

CCF and Lag questions
I am new to R and new to time series modeling.
I have a set of variables (var1, var2, var3, var4, var5) for which I have
historical yearly data.
I am trying to use this data to produce a prediction of var1, 3 years into
the future.
I have a few basic questions:
1) I am able to read in my data, and convert it to a time series format
using 'ts.'
data_ts <- ts(data, start = 1988, end =

Possible artifacts in cross-correlation function ("ccf")?
Dear R-users,
I have been using R and its core-packages with great satisfaction now for many years, and have recently started using the "ccf" function (part of the "stats" package version 2.16.0), about which I have a question.
The "ccf"-algorithm for calculating the cross-correlation between two time series always calculates the mean and standard deviation per time

[R] Calculation of cross-correlation in ccf
Dear All,
I am studying some process measurement time series in R and trying to identify time delays using cross-correlation function ccf. The results have however been bit confusing. I found a couple of years old message about this issue but unfortunately wasn't able to find it again for a reference.
For example, an obvious time shift is observed between the measurements y1 and y2 when the

ccf and covariance
Hi.
It's my understanding that a cross-correlation function of vectors x
and y at lag zero is equivalent to their correlation (or covariance,
depending on how the ccf is defined).
If this is true, could somebody please explain why I get an
inconsistent result between cov() and ccf(type = "covariance"), but a
consistent result between cor() and ccf(type = "correlation")?

R-help with apply and ccf
Dear R gurus,
I would like to use the ccf function on two matrices that are each 196000 x
12. Ideally, I want to be able to go row by row for the two matrices using
apply for the ccf function and get one 196000 X 1 array output. The apply
function though wants only one array, no? Basically, is there a way to use
apply when there are two arrays in order to do something like correlation on
a row
