OpenSSH with "resumable" functionality
I just stumbled across this thread on openssh-dev... Is there anywhere to track progress on this issue? It'd be a fantastic feature that would fix all sorts of problems I deal with regularly. You may also be interested in an article "Design and Implementation of a Mobile SSH Protocol", if you haven't seen it, since that team implemented (afaict) the same feature, whether or not

Winbind authentication over transitive trusts between multiple W2k3 Domains
Hallo, we use Samba 3.0.22 with MIT Kerberos and winbind on Ubuntu edgy in a Windows2003 ADS enviroment. Everything works fine like kinit, net ads join, getting the Domain accounts from the own and other domains, but one important thing fails - obviously winbind cannot resolve name to sid, when the account is in another domain, where is only a transitive trust, not a direct. Lets say there

winbind authentication
Hi all, I'm trying to setup integrate squid to an activedirectory. So I use samba and windbind for this. I successfully initialize kerberos (with kinit) and I see a ticket with klist. When I start samba, it fails on winbind daemon with the following error : winbindd version 3.0.24 started. Copyright The Samba Team 2000-2004 [2007/05/11 15:55:17, 0]

winbind separator oddity

This machine is used solely for our school's file server, home folders server. All aspects works great and have been using Vista clients on it for going on three years. Vista was a bit of a learning curve at the time getting all the behind the scene

winbind: challenge/response password authentication failed
I'm using Redhat's 2.2.3a-6 standard install of Samba. I seem to have almost everything worked out (after much back and forth and fussing), but I can't log in using my domain users. Just using su or login fails, but using "wbinfo -a <domain>+<userid>%<passwd>" I get this suggestive error: plaintext password authentication succeeded challenge/response

trouble with GDM -- linux client to samba
Hi all, As an experiment I'm trying to log into a samba server (3.3.2) from GDM. Both systems are running Ubuntu 9.04 and LDAP is not involved. But it's not working. The test user credentials are donkey/donkey . On the client: # net rpc join -S 192.168.0.1 -U root Enter root's password: Joined domain LAB-SAMBA. # wbinfo -t checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded #

preupgrade
Hello! Just thought I'd present this problem for comment/help/hints: * want to upgrade from Fedora Core 11 to 13 * I have a 64-bit system with Vista as a host o/s, running VMWare, and FC11 as a client o/s * cloned my FC11 as a backup * ran preupgrade, got expected problem with 200MB /boot, but preupgrade said that it could continue downloading (presumably to the larger partition) so I did

The context: samba 3.0+windbind+MS ADS Server 2003 I can't see or access to my samba share through my AD 2003 domain To summarize: The Kerberos connection: ok The record of Samba server in the AD : ok The record of Samba server in the Server 2003 DNS: ok The nsdc daemon is shutdown. PAM-Winbind authentication working but can't use domain groups
I have successfully set up samba 3.0, PAM, Winbind and joined my samba server to a windows 2000 domain. I can log into my linux box as a domain user and that all works fine. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to set up access to a samba share based on an Active Directory group. Here is my smb.conf file: [global] winbind separator = ` idmap uid = 10000-20000 winbind gid = 10000-20000

winbind + pam authentication immediately closes session
I followed the basic pointers for setting up pam + winbind on a debian based system ( http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=5409 ) the member server is joined to the domain and authentication appears to work successfully, however when I attempt to login with a domain user with the proper password to a method that requires a session (ssh/su/xdm) or otherwise the session is immediately

Multiple authentication instances (GSSAPI _or_ Client Certificate)
Hi there, I am trying to make a paranoid IMAPS/Submission server. I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 with Dovecot 2.3.7.2 (3c910f64b). I mostly use my mail-server from the LAN/Realm where I have GSSAPI working well for both IMAPS and Submission and most other services But... I would like to be able to configure Dovecot to require mobile ("external") devices to authenticate using client

Bug? Authentication failure with multiple logins from same client IP addy
We have a client machine (Windows 2000) that runs an application which spawns separate processes with each authenticate separately to the SAMBA server (3.0.13) When several of these processes run at the same time, SOME of the authentications fail with NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD written to the log.smbd file (error level 2)...I've attached a snippet of the log file to the end of this message All

Remote SIP client HACK JOB
I couldn't be happier with the simplicity of this - but it's a hack! Hi all, I'm currently using a SIP client (BT101) to connect via DSL to a remote instance of Asterisk. - Asterisk has a private IP behind my OFFICE router. - The SIP client has a private IP behind my HOME router. I'm doing this _without_ the use of STUN or proxy servers. Here's how it works: -

Winbind Authentication Problem
Had planned to use LDAP and replace an NT4 domain, but trouble with a software vendor (long story) means we need to keep the NT4 domain and use winbind for share authentication for the next few months. So, I religiously followed the TOSHARG winbind chapter, stopping short of making changes to /etc/pam.d files. I can browse and see shares from the Samba box via KDE's LAN browser, but

Desperate -- I'll even pay -- winbind/samba -- challenge/resp onse password authentication failed
I think this is acceptable - I get the same output for this command in a Samba session on a Win2000 domain and it works fine. $ wbinfo -a DOM+W2kusername%password plaintext password authentication succeeded challenge/response password authentication failed Could not authenticate user DOM+W2kusername%password with challenge/response I think you are 99% setup. Multiple auth sections, stable branch - 7/2/05
Hi, Great job with the dovecot 1.0 stable branch, much more stable than the test57 I was using. Only one slight oddity, I know multiple auth sections is not stable yet but I am finding that one auth section at random is being ignored at login time (acknowledges it at startup). The auth section that is ignored is the same each time, but different on each server I use it on and changes at
