what to do about [abrt] full crash report kernel taint?
I have a machine with a recent install of centos
(2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64 kernel). It crashed 3 times this week, and
sent emails like the one below complaining about kernel taint. I've
gone back to a previous kernel to see if that helps, but otherwise I
don't know how to investigate this. What should I do?
Here's stuff from the log and one of the emails:

Unknown KERNEL Warning in boot messages
CentOS Community,
Would someone who is familiar with reading boot messages and kernel
errors be able to assist with advising me on what the following errors
might mean in dmesg. It seems to come up randomly towards the end of the
logfile.

tcl font size issue on centso 4.4 x86_64
I have a simply script that I cannot get a font size bigger than 40.
Changing the font_size value to 80 does not make
the font any bigger just the background.
How do I get a bigger font than 40?
I run this script as "wish -f file.tcl"
What am I doing wrong to not get bigger fonts?
THanks,
Jerry

centso 5 modifying my ifcfg-eth[x] files
I have a machine with 2 network cards.
Installing centos 5 on it.
I set up both cards with static IP addresses.
activate on boot etc...
One is e1000 Intel the other is onboard forcedeth (nvidia).
After I reboot the forcedeth ifcfg-eth1 file is changed to DHCP.
I use netconfig -d eth1 to set it back up and reboot again and
the changes back to DHCP.
Only thing to add here is the network card

centos6
I installed ipsec-tools but an interface type IPsec is not recognized by
the kernel
ifup ipsec0
Device does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
I am not planning to use the awful OpenSwan, I Want to sue the Kame
implementation which was working fine on CentOS5
any hints ?

[BUG 1282] time jump on live migrate root cause & proposed fixes
Hi,
I have done some debugging to find out the root cause of bug 1282, which
has the following symptoms with paravirtualized guests:
- after a live migrate, the time on the guest can jump
- after a live migrate, the guest "forgets" to wake up processes
- after a domU save, dom0 reboot and domU restore, the time is
correct but processes are not woken up from sys_nanosleep
The problem

Hardware raid LSI Megaraid not working since Centos 6.6
Happy new year !
We have a SuperMicro server with a LSI MegaRAID 9260-4i controller.
Since Centos 6.6 update (kernel 2.6.32-504), the controller doesn't
initialize at boot. Reverting to kernel 2.6.32-431 allows server to boot
fine.
The server can't boot due to a bug in LSI megaraid module. Boot log ends
by a lot of lines:
RESET_GEN2: retry=xxx, hostdiag=a4
I tried Centos 6.6

Errors in /var/spool/mail/root
CentOS Experts,
I am receiving the following in /var/spool/mail/root. I cleaned out the
file and then rebooted and the same errors came back. Is it possible to
analyze the data and advise if there is an issue with my system? This is
a completely fresh install.

hwclock on dom0 is correct
dom0 is CentOS 5.1 and domU is XentOS 5.1

monitor option in libvirt ?
Hello,
I woudl liek to start qemu-kvm with -monitor myfile.pipe options
instead of default -monitor pty
Anyway I have not found any way to tell libvirt (using virsh) that I
want to set a specific
-monitor option to the qemu-kvm command line.
How can I do this ?
I do not want to start manually qemu-kvm because in this way I will
loose the libvirt VM management
thanks

libvirt security update CVE-2011-1146
Hello,
I have seen that package libvirt-0.8.2-15.el5_6.3 on CentOS 5.6 which
addresses CVE-2011-1146
<https://www.redhat.com/security/data/cve/CVE-2011-1146.html> vulnerability
is not yet available while for example it is on Scientific Linux.
Is there any particular reason why the above rpm update is still not
available on mirrors ?
thank you

A problem when mount glusterfs via NFS
HI:
I run glusterfs with four nodes, 2x2 Distributed-Replicate.
I mounted it via fuse and did some test, it was ok.
However when I mounted it via nfs, a problem was found:
When I copied 200G files to the glusterfs, the glusterfs process in the server node(mounted by client) was killed because of OOM,
and all terminals of the client were hung. Trying to test for many times, I got the

Xen and networking.
I have a beefy machine
(Intel dual-quad core, 16GB memory 2 x GigE)
I have loaded RHEL5.1-xen on the hardware and have created two logical systems:
4 cpus, 7.5 GB memory 1 x Gige
Following RHEL guidelines, I have it set up so that eth0->xenbr0 and
eth1->xenbr1
Each of the two RHEL5.1 guests uses one of the interfaces and this is
verified at the
switch by seeing the unique MAC addresses.
