Re: Steam Doesn't work
I'm encountering this as well. I'm running openSUSE 12.1/GNOME 3 with Wine 1.3.35 and Steam closes after spending a while on the "Connecting Steam account '<>'..." box. Wine outputs this: Code: fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000100 fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00004100 fixme:process:SetProcessShutdownParameters (00000100, 00000000):

Wine help for newbie
Hi all - I have a few questions - OK, a million questions, but just a couple today. I hope this is the right list ... I migrated (finally!) from Win7 to OpenSuse 12.1 64bit, KDE4 a couple of weeks ago on a Dell Inspiron laptop dual core Intel cpu/2Gz, 4meg RAM. So in most things I am groping around in the dark. This distro included Wine 1.3.30. I successfully loaded my pet email client,

Unhandled exception launching games from Steam
So after years of running a 'pure' Linux machine, I finally decided to install Wine so I could play some of my old games - and it's been a disaster. Using either Wine 1.5.3 or 1.3.3 trying to launch Half-Life Source results in nothing happening, trying to launch from the commandline gives this stack trace: Code: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address

steam games are missing
I've installed steam and it runs (extremely slow though), but when I log in and open the my games tab none of my games are shown. I know the games are still registered to my account though because when i use my old windows computer they are still all there. Also when I tried to repurchase one of my games I was told that the software i wanted to purchase wasn't available in my location yet

Steam crashes after login - any troubleshooting t
The Steam client crashes after I login. After submitting my credentials, Steam displays a dialog box informing me the client is 'connecting'. I then see the Steam main page and a blank news page displayed for roughly a second or so before the client crashes. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 maverick which I've installed on a usb flash drive using a capser-rw file for persistence.

Cannot start Amnesia nor Penumbra via Steam
Greetings! First of all, I would like to say thank you to everyone who are spending their time into making Wine what it is, and better! I would offer my help if I had the ability to actually do something, but I have yet much to learn, but in the future, perchance... Anyways! A few days ago, I thought I would play some Penumbra: Overture. I have played it before, so I was a bit surprised as it

Question about Steam.
I am running wine1.3, installed from the winehq repo on ubuntu 10.10. I installed steam through winetricks, nothing else. After this i told steam to start installing civ V. And for some time it just downloader with 1.4mb/sec. then suddenly everything stopped... and all i could squeeze out of my connection was 150kb/sek. Is there anything in wine1.3, or perhaps steam running under wine1.3 that

loaded Unreal Tournament (GTOY) runs choppy Ubuntu 11.10
I loaded Unreal Tournament in wine 1.3.37 and everything works that I tried but the video is choppy. The sound was not choppy but the video was. It did not matter if I was playing online or the bots on my computer the video was choppy. I tried raising and lowering the video resolutions and it did not seem to effect the problem for better or worse. I am using Ubuntu 64 bit 11.10. I am on an AMD

Steam crashes at startup. Doesn't even reach log in screen
Hello! I've followed the Steam install guide for Wine, but I still can't get Steam to start. It just shows up in the task bar for a couple of seconds, then it disappears and nothing happens. I get these error messages when I launch from console, but they dont't make me much smarter. I'm running Fedora 14 x64 with the standard open source non-Nvidia Nvidia drivers. Code:
