location of Tisean executables when using RTisean and jumping between linux and windows
Hi,
I wonder if someone could help. I needed to transfer (copy) a workspace
file that had been generated in linux (R 2.11) to windows running the
same version of R 2.11 (but of course windows binary). Usually, there is
no problem in doing this and all objects work as expected. I am often
doing this to be able to produce wmf or emf graphic files that I need.
This time I had some spectra that I

tsDyn and RTisean packages on CRAN
Dear R users,
I've just uploaded 2 packages on CRAN, RTisean and tsDyn, both for time

RTisean executable problem in STLperArea
Hi,
I?m trying to use the STLperArea function in the ndvits package. I can run
the sample data (?SLPSAs_full?) without any problem. However, when I come to
run the function on my own data, I get the following message.
Waiting to confirm page change...

RTisean 3.0-7 released
Dear R users,
I've just uploaded to CRAN a new version of RTisean, the TISEAN-to-R interface.
This is now compatible with the recent, new 3.0.1 release of TISEAN [1].
This new TISEAN version is explicitely GPL-ed, and has some more
routines handling multivariate time series.
Bests,
Antonio, Fabio Di Narzo.

Hurst Exponent Estimation
Dear All,
I am a novice when it comes to time-series analysis and at the moment I
am actually interested in calculating the Hurst exponent of a time
series.
This question has already been asked quite some time ago
http://bit.ly/98dZsi
and I trust some progress has been made ever since.
I was able to find some functions in the packages

Multivariate regression tree: problems with surrogate splits
R helpers,
I am working with the R program performing multivariate regression trees (MRT). I have a matrix with species and environmental variables saved as a CSV file (sprot_matrix.csv), I have 42 species and 8 environmental variables (SECCHI+PH+TA+PTOT+NTOT+CHLA+AREA+ MEANDEP) for 104 samples

proportion of treatment effect by a surrogate (fitting multivariate survival model)
Dear R-help,
I would like to compute the variance for the proportion of treatment
effect by a surrogate in a survival model (Lin, Fleming, and De
Gruttola 1997 in Statistics in Medicine). The paper mentioned that
the covariance matrix matches that of the covariance matrix estimator
for the marginal hazard modelling of multiple events data (Wei, Lin,
and Weissfeld 1989 JASA), and is implemented

Possible Bug In Validation of UTF-8 Sequences
As per `?intToUtf8`, and in the comments to `valid_utf8`[1], R
intends to prevent illegal UTF-8 such as UTF-8 encoded
UTF-16 surrogate pairs.? `R_nchar`, invoked via `base::nchar`,
explicitly validates UTF-8 strings[2], but allows the surrogate:

problems with the last version of R

I would like to know if it is possible that the last version of R is not giving the surrogate splits when you perform a Multivariate regression tree analysis? I installed the programm in different computers and i run the some matrix and it didn't gave me this information. With a previus version R 2.1.1. I do get the information for the surrogates. Surrogate splits for decision trees
Dear R,
Short verse of the question:
Is there R code which will calculate surrogate splits
and/or delta impurity for decision trees at each node?
Long Version:
I have local, legacy code which I use to calculate my decision trees.
I would like to switch to R, but as I understand it surrogate splits
are not implemented.
Surrogate splits and feature ranking are described in Breiman et al

tseriesChaos ver. 0.1
Dear all,
I have uploaded to CRAN a new package: tseriesChaos.
This is an early version (0.1) with basic tools for the explorative

the package is largely inspired by the TISEAN project (by Rainer Hegger,
Holger Kantz and Thomas Schreiber:

Multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis
Dear R-users,
Has anyone written a function for multifractal detrended
fluctuation analysis? The "fractal" package does mono-fractal DFA,
but not multifractal as far as I can tell. The MF-DFA approach is
presented in:

variable subsets as surrogates for a full data set, in an exploratory
data analysis, and search for subsets which are optimal under various
criteria.
As of version 0.7 a new function 'leaps' has been added. 'Leaps'
