Problem building a DLL from Fortran 90 source under Windows (with solution)
Hi, All, I have come across a problem building a DLL from .f90 source (R 2.3.1, Windows XP). When using the R CMD SHLIB procedure, the DLL itself was being built, but its export table was empty. Among the output from R CMD SHLIB the following message appeared: c:\mingw\bin\nm.exe: 'a.out': No such file The reason is the empty list of dependencies in the pattern rule for DLLs

[LLVMdev] liblibclang.dll?
Hi, I accidentally noticed the following line when building LLVM and Clang on Windows 7 x64 using Mingw64: Linking CXX shared library ..\..\..\..\bin\liblibclang.dll "Liblib" seems a bit overkill. FYI. BTW, for those who happen to search on LLVM, Clang, Windows, and Mingw64: The v3.1 release does NOT build with Mingw64. I believe this has been fixed in the Subversion sources as

Fortran 90 and Windows
I have been revising some FORTRAN 77 routines in R packages I have previously submitted. Since R is now using gfortan I experimented with some Fortran 90 code (array intrinsics primarily). So far the code is still in F77 fixed format, in files suffixed .f (not .f90), but incorporates some F90 constructs. It has worked fine in linux/R. I tried to follow the thread of previous discussions

Fortran and R: F90
I too have some messy F77 code that I'm considering porting to F90. BUT: Has anyone had luck creating shared-objects from F90 to load in R? What about submitting packages to CRAN with F90 code? how to handle 'multiresponse' variable?
Hello! I have dataset where one variable is 'multiresponse', like this: [1] "1 2" "1 2 3" "4" "1 4" "4 3" etc. 'responses' separated by space. observations in different 'rows' of data.frame. I can do strsplit(data$var,' ') and make a list, where multiple responses are elements of character vectors, like this: $

R and Fortran 9x -- advice
Hi, I found some bottlenecks in my R code with Rprof. First I wanted to rewrite them in C, but a colleague keeps suggesting that I learn Fortran, so maybe this is the time to do it... I like to learn new languages and do it fairly quickly. I would appreciate the advice of others about these questions: 1) I hear bad things about Fortran. Sure, F77 looks archaic, but F90/95 seems nicer. Is it

Linking R with Fortran 90: make: m2c: Command not found
Following the setup in Prof.Duncan Murdoch's page, I have successfully compiled the DLL for one Fortran 95 program using Gfortran and got 300 times speed boost. For the second set of fortran programs, However, I have this error message R CMD SHLIB -o jiangang kdtree2.f90 jian.f90 gang.f90 m2c -o jian.o jian.mod make: m2c: Command not found make: *** [jian.o] Error 127 Can anyone

Fortran level mismatch between package and R
We have a user here who is attempting to compile a package which requires f90 (gfortran will do). Our version of R was built with f77 (g77). When the user attempts to build the package, f77 is always invoked and fails due to the presence of f90 features. Is there a simple method or some documentation on how to force a package build to use a different compiler than the one used in

package with fortran 90 subroutines under windows xp
Hello, I work under windows xp and I am trying to build a R package with a subroutine written in fortran 90. I have installed all the updated tools and I am working with R-2.4.0 or R-2.5.0. When I check a package with a subroutine in fortran 77 (and extension f) everything is ok. When I try to build the same package with a subroutine in fortran 90 (with extension f90) the following warning

Problems with 64bit dll compile in R-2.15.0
I built my package under the R version 2.14.1 on windows without any problems by first checking for issues using R CMD check (no warnings) and then R CMD build to build the tar.gz. I can install this on version 2.14.1 using install.packages(...). I next tested to see if I could also install on version 2.15.0 (also on my computer) using install.packages() with the version 2.14.1 tar.gz this

Multiresponse parameter estimation
I am looking for a way to do multiresponse parameter estimation for a problem that is quite similar in form to the alpha-pinene example in Bates and Watts (1988), p. 147, where the model is a set of ODEs. I am specifically interested in obtaining the parameter covariance matrix, as well. Which package(s) in R would I use to do such a thing? Mark Schaffer Dept. of Chemical Engineering

How to read a direct access file by connecting fortran with R ?
Hello all, I would like to read the specific line number row of a direct access file (which is stored as a n_row*n_col matrix of elements kind=p) without reading all the preceding lines (i.e 1,2,..,row-1). Is there a function in R that can perform this task? To solve my issue, I tried without to call Fortran from R by doing the following steps: I) I wrote a subroutine in fortran called

R package with Fortran module on Windows? undefined reference to `__stack_chk_fail'
Hi, I created a R library that uses a Fortran module. Everything works like a charm on linux. Now I'm trying to make it work on Windows. I cloned my git repository <https://github.com/ignacio82/MyPi> on a windows computer, and when I press the build and reload button on Rstudio I get these errors: ==> Rcmd.exe INSTALL --no-multiarch --with-keep.source MyPi * installing to library

[LLVMdev] FORTRAN compiler status?
Dear LLVMers, Does anyone know what the latest is w.r.t a FORTRAN front-end for LLVM? Is anyone expecting to have typical f90/f95 programs compiling to LLVM this year, or next? (I'm aware of the "NAG hack" and various other f2c-type approaches, but they give me a strange feeling in my tummy.) Duraid

Compile syslinux64.exe on ubuntu
Hello, I wanted to recompile syslinux64.exe (windows 64bit binary) on ubuntu. The default ./find-mingw64.sh script failed to locate mingw64 on ubuntu, even after root at htpc:~# apt-get install gcc-mingw-w64 So I had to patch the script to let it find mingw64 on ubuntu as well. Patch is below, please apply to syslinux sources: --- syslinux-4.05/win64/find-mingw64.sh.orig 2012-08-28

R - Compiling and calling Fortran code that uses IMSL libraries - Help!
Good Afternoon R Help! On of my users is seriously thinking about moving to R from Splus. In his testing, he has already found some benefits to it. He has, however run into one issue, calling his Fortran functions in R. Previously, in Splus, he would do the following: 1. Compile via f90 the *.f program 2. link the object file to the Fortran IMSL libraries via the 'ld' command 3.

How to move an internal function to external keeping same environment?
Hi I have within a quite big function foo1, an internal function foo2. Now, in order to have a cleaner code, I wish to have the internal foo2 as "external". This foo2 was using arguments within the foo1 environment that were not declared as inputs of foo2, which works as long as foo2 is within foo1, but not anymore if foo2 is external, as is the case now. Now, I could add all those
