Changing Gui preferences
I want to modify my Gui preferences to get rid of the MDI toolbar and
status bar. [ Under Windows XP and R 1.8.1 and 1.9.0.]
When I uncheck the boxes and click "apply" I am told to save the
preferences and the changes will take effect when restarting R. I click
"save" and a box comes up to ask me to save Rconsole (I'm not sure where
this should be saved but I navigate

Permanently changing gui preferences
Greetings,
I made changes to my gui preferences and saved them. When I close and
then open R, it reverts back to default preferences. How do I
permanently change gui preferences?
Thanks in advance.

Changes in console preferences won't take
Greetings,
I've attempted to change the font size directly in Rconsole as well as
through the GUI preferences. Neither seems to take even when I save the
preference changes. When I make the change through the gui preference,
and click "apply" the change is made, but when I save it, close, and
reopen, there is no change. Any thouughts? I'm running R.2.40.

Problem with console in Windows GUI (PR#4381)
Full_Name: Andrew Zachary

OS: XP Pro
Submission from: (NULL) (24.44.128.138)
The R-console window in the Windows GUI has a nice feature that lets you save
your preferences for font sizes and background and foreground colors. Unhappily,
there is no way to load these preferences back in when starting a new session.
Also, the scroll window for selecting colors is very small and

Hi
I did a google search on this and came up with nothing.
OK, in the latest release of R for windows, I want to change the gui to

Choose SDI

I get the message about properties not being able to be changed on a
running console, and that I need to save.
So I click Save, and am met with a "Save As" dialogue box with the

GUI font size
Dear R People:
On the Edit menu, there is a GUI preference tab.
On the Font option, the highest value is 18.
Has anyone ever had the font size set larger than that will any
success, please?

Minor GUI Issues
Some minor request for the R on Windows (2000) GUI version. I'm using
1.5.1 with the SDI interface.
(1) When minimized, the main R window and the graphics window show as two
copies of the same icon. That makes it less convenient to switch among
tasks in Windows, as I often select the wrong one. Could they have
different icons in the future, please?
(2) I use a fixed-width Type 1 font

RConsole processing crashes Rgui.exe
Using R 2.9.2 on Windows XP SP3.
1. Edit ~/Rconsole, and set
font = TT Bitstream Vera Sans Mono
2. Start Rgui.exe
3. Go to Edit, GUI Preferfences
4. Rgui.exe crashes
Rgui.exe does not crash if I do not access GUI Preferences (i.e., if I just use
R), and it does correctly use Bitstream Vera Sans Mono as my font. Nor does it
crash if I edit RConsole to set the font back to Lucida Console and

Why do you think you should be seeing folders for every single day?
Do your users create a new folder each day and migrate mails in there?
Do you have a sieve script that is filtering incoming mail into daily
folders?

(PR#7277) Re: strange windows behaviour after changing
I can reproduce this in MDI. Another clue is that as the pager for
?merge is opened, the font in the console changes.
The console is still working: commands you type in it are accepted.
So the issue appears to be that the font in use has been changed
incorrectly (and it seems that the C code thinks it has been changed in
the preferences dialog).

Rgui.exe fix for "console not found" buffer overflow problem
I'm using R on Windows XP Professional SP2.
I figured out the fix for my buffer overflow problem that did not allow me
to use Rgui.exe for about two weeks. I would keep getting "console not
found" and even when I uninstalled and re-installed got the same problem.
Here's how the problem started. In Rgui.exe, I attempted to get more
visible output in the buffer (I wanted

Rconsole file fails to remember GUI settings, and script
Sorry, I don't use Windows... can't help there.
It's customary to keep cc'ing the list on these sorts of things so
someone with a more similar platform/ more expertise can take the
issue up if needed. Maybe someone else will be able to help you out.

A "bug" in Rconsole?
Dear R-friends,
After change (and saved) font style to "bold" in GUI preferences from
menu-bar Edit,
R 1.2.0, Win98, the "buflines" in the file Rconsole changed to "bufiles"
and that causes
error in invoking R next time.
Is this a bug?

Rconsole file fails to remember GUI settings, and script window text colour option is missing
Am encountering two related problems since the 2.15 release. Apologies in
advance for a mundane non code-related post, but you know how it is. I'm
using the basic R GUI.
1: I use a black environment for no glare, so pre-version 2.15 I've had
black backgrounds and white text. Since the 2.15 release my script window
text has colour turned itself black (so is now invisible) and now I

Change font size in Windows
My day for dumb questions. How do I increase the type size in the Rgui console in Windows? (R-2.13.0, Windows 7)
It looked to me that I just needed to change the font spec in Rconsole but that does not seem to be working.
The R FAQ for Windows has a reference in Q3.4 to changing fonts, (Q5.2), but I don't see anything relevant there.
Rconsole originally was:

acts_as_metadata?
I''m running into the need (on at least one project now) to implement
end-user-customizable "metadata" or properties on model objects. The
standard example would be a Person class that had first_name,
last_name, etc. but would need to be extended real-time (through the
web admin interface) with properties such as phone_number : varchar
(30). I''ve done some basic
