scp fails after sending command: scp -v -t
I encounter a strange problem with scp / sftp:
I travel quite a bit. Normally I never have had any problems using
ssh / scp / sftp to connect from my laptop to my computer at home /
in the office. Currently (for the next 6 months, too long to ignore it)
I'll stay in a place where scp / sftp seem to fail, while as usual I
have no problems to establish an interactive ssh connection to these

gnuclient problems witrh R/ESS in linux
Dear list,

ESS/rterm problem
I really don't think this is an R bug; sorry if I've got it wrong twice
within a week.
Using rw0632 on NT 4.0, I can get R running quite happily under ESS
5.1.3. However, whenever I use help(), although I do get the required
help in a split screen, I also get the minibuffer error message:
wrong argument type: processp, nil
Note: I get this under ESS 5.0 as well. I could live with this,

[LLVMdev] loads from a null address and optimizations
Hi,
I don't intentionally want to induce a tramp, the load null is created by
an llvm optimization
pass from code like:
v = null;
.....
v.Call ();

install.packages readRDS error
Hi,
I am running Ubuntu 10.10 and I have just installed R 2.14.0.
When I try to install a package: install.packages("SPOT")
it returns an error message: "Error in readRDS(file) : error reading from
the connection".
Also, when I try the command in R: update.packages(), it returns the same
error message described previously.
Any ideas?

problems with ESS 16.10-1 and R version 3.3.2
Hello everyone,
does anyone reported similar problems with ess 16.10-1 and R version 3.3.2
RC?
These are the steps I do to reproduce it
- Open any R script
- C-c C-n (or C-c C-j) on any line to start the interactive session
- the R process is started but it's hanging and emacs "freeze" (any command
is ignored)

ESS: Viewing Restored Workspace At Startup
I use ESS and have no problems invoking it when I fire up emacs. When it
loads it tells me, [Previously saved workspace restored]. However, I do not
know how to view that history of commands so I can continue what I was
doing.
Since the buffer begins with ESS, what do I do to view that restored
workspace?
TIA,

.Rhistory in R.app
Dear R users,
I am having a minor but annoying issue with R.app. It doesn't retain
the history information from the previous sessions. By "history," I
mean a record of commands/functions entered into R rather than the
list of objects--that is properly recorded in the .Rdata file as well
as in a workspace file I save separately.

problem with the .Rhistory
Hello,
The history function doesn't seems to work when I am working with R.
I have a .Rhistory file in my working directory and I have tried
savehistory(file = ".Rhistory")
or the command given in the history help :
.Last <- function()
if(interactive()) try(savehistory(".Rhistory"))
and I get the same error message

Overal plot title after mfrow and .Rhistory questions.
Hello everyone,
I had a few questions that I have not been able to figure out despite a lot of
reading.
1) Adding a title to a multiplot figure:
If I plot multiple plots with
>par(mfrow=c(2,6))
how do I add an overall title to the figure, not the individual plots?
2) Saving histories on the fly:
Is there a .Rhistory equivalent to

rw0632 makes stray .Rhistory orphans
If you start Rterm/Rgui from the cmd (NT4.4) command line, the .Rhistory and
.RData files are created/used in the current directory.
I think, R should honor HOME or even the USERPROFILE variable.
Regards
Karl
PS: is this the correct list for such reports or would it be better to use
r-devel?

defaults in R: packages, .Rhistory
With the current version (rw1070), every time I start R it loads a whole
bunch of packages, many of which I do not need in a typical session:

autoloading .RData files / .Rhistory file
NOTE: WinXP, R2.2.0
All,
a while back I posted a question about using relative filereferencing.
The responses have allowed me to successfully set up the following
directory structure:
...\data\raw
...\data\derived
...\prog
...\lst
...\log
In the \prog directory I have put an RGui.exe shortcut and "pointed it"
at \prog as the "Start In" location. In the same

Clearing Console; of weeks of codes!
Dear All:
I do see I have weeks of codes in my console when I check with my arrow up
keys. I have been clearing them with Control L but it seems to clear it

the next day, after quitting the session!
Q:
How do I clear this?
Thanks;

[ESS] Process SAS is not running... error on Ubuntu
It does appear the ess package on CRAN for Ubuntu 8.04 fails to
install the file 'ess-sas-sh-command'. This prevents invoking SAS
via 'M-x SAS'.
