Help with Faulted Zpool Call for Help(Cross post)
Hello list,
I posted this a few days ago on opensolaris-discuss@ list
I am posting here, because there my be too much noise on other lists
I have been without this zfs set for a week now.
My main concern at this point,is it even possible to recover this zpool.
How does the metadata work? what tool could is use to rebuild the
corrupted parts
or even find out what parts are corrupted.

transform shapefiles in UTM to lat/long
Dear all:
I have a shapefile in UTM coordinate system and I would like to transform it
to Lat/Log coordinates (WSG84). The package PBSmapping contains function
convUL to transform between the two coordinate systems when data is in the
form of a data frame with attributes specifying the coordinate system.
However, when shapefiles are imported using function read.shape (package
maptools), a list

converting coordinates from utm to longitude / latitude
Hi,
is there a function in R to convert data read with read.shape and which is originally in UTM coordinates into longitude / latitude coordinates?
I found the convUL() function from the PBSmapping package but I have no idea how I could apply that to the read.shape object.
Many thanks,
Werner

from long/lat to UTM
Hi:
Is there any function in R which can convert the
long/lat to UTM(Universal Transverse Mercator)?
There are quite a few converters on Internet.
However, the interface is designed as input->output
which I can not convert lots of locations at the same
time.
Another question is whether there is a function in R
which can tell the time zone from the location's
lat/long?
Thank you!

Clip a contour with shapefile while using contourplot
Hi, I have done the interpolation for my data and I was able to create the
contours in multipanel with the help of Pascal. Now, I want to clip the
contour with the shapefile. I want only the portion of contour to be
displayed which falls inside the boundary of the shapefile.
The data mydata.csv can be found on

Steps to create spatial plots
Hi users,
I have no clear clue about plotting spatial data. For example, I just have
a table with attribute values of each grid cell, such as elevation. Then I
have coordinates of the upper left corner in UTM, the number of rows and
columns, and grid cell size. How to create spatial plot of elevations for
the grid cells, in color ramp? Should I create a spatial grid layer with
all the polygons

plot() and lines() multivariate problem
Dear list
I'm trying to solve the following problem since 2 days with no success.
Could someone help a newbie, please ?
I have a dependant variable which is diameter of shell, and two factors
which are level on the beach (3 levels 'B', 'E' and 'H') and a hydrodynamics
indice (3 levels 1, 2 and 3)
To study diameter variations according to these factors, I may use

Steps to create spatial plots
Hi Roman,
Thanks for your reply. For the spatial coordinates layer, I just have
coordinates of the upper left corner, numbers of rows and columns of the
spatial map, and grid cell size. How to create a spatial layer of
coordinates from this data? Thanks.

Steps to create spatial plots
You will need to coerce your data into a "spatial" kind, as implemented in
`sp` or as of late, `sf` packages. You might want to give the vignettes a
whirl before you proceed.
Roughly, you will have to coerce the data to Spatial* (you could go for a
point, raster or grid type, I think) and also specify the projection. Once
you have that, plotting should be handled by packages.
Here are a

>From your description, I am **guessing** that you may not want a "spatial
map" (including projections) at all, but rather something like a level
plot. See ?levelplot in the lattice package for details. Both I am sure
ggplot2 has something similar.
Apologies if I havemisunderstood your intent/specifications.

Bubble plot on shapefile - projection issues?
Dear R help list,
?
I am working on some data from a study on the habitat use and movement patterns of fish using a marine protected area in Hawaii.? We have a number of acoustic receivers in a MPA, and any time a tagged fish passes within range it records the date and time of detection.? I am trying to make bubble plots?showing the number of detections for each fish at each receiver.? I have been

SEM : Warning : Could not compute QR decomposition of Hessian
Hi useRs,
I'm trying for the first time to use a sem. The model finally runs,
but gives a warning saying :
"In sem.default(ram = ram, S = S, N = N, param.names = pars, var.names
= vars, : Could not compute QR decomposition of Hessian.
Optimization probably did not converge. "
I found in R-help some posts on this warning, but my attemps to modify
the code didn't change

ggplot incorrect legend
How do I create a legend with ggplot?
I think should be getting the FuelTypeNum in the legend.
Plot:

My code is:
ggplot(data=tempTable, aes(x=Bands8, y=SubPercent, fill=FuelTypeNum)) +
geom_bar(position="stack", stat="identity") +
scale_colour_hue('my legend', breaks = levels(tempTable$FuelTypeNum),

Converiting longitude/latitude to utm
Dear all,
I have been trying to convert coordinates from longitude/latitude to utm
but I got an error. As soon as the longitude coordinate is greater than 90,
I get the folloowing error message: "error in pj_transform: latitude or
longitude exceeded limits"
Here is what I did:

un solo un favor
Hola a todos
Esta es mi primera pregunta en el grupo, y es sencilla pero me tiene
atascado. Estoy tratando de cortar mi mapa de (poner limites en UTM) en un
lugar definido como mi area de estudio (en este caso el sur de chile). Pero
creo no estar usando bien la funciĆ³n CRS ponendo bien los limites
requeridos.

Using GIS data in R
I have a simple problem: I need to load a ERSI shapefile of US states
and check whether or not a set of points are within the boundary of
these states. I have the shapefile, I have the coordinates but I'm
having a great deal of difficulty bringing the two together. The
problem is the various GIS packages for R do not play well with each
other. sp, shapefiles, maptools, etc all use different

conversion of LL coordenates to UTM problems (ED50-WGS84 format)
Hi R-Users,
I have plotted a region whose polygon coordinates are given in shp format ED50 UTM (zone=30) ) using "readShapePoly" in library(maptools).
Now I need to plot a set of points in that region (my.dataframe, with X and Y geographic coordinates), which have been read using GPS in Longitud-Latitud form (using WGS84 system), so I first need to convert these Longitud-Latitud data

Steps to create spatial plots
Hi Bert,
I think you are correct that I can use levelplot, but I have a question
about converting data. For example, the statement:
levelplot(Z~X*Y), Z is row-wise from the lower left corner to the upper
right corner.
My dataset just have gridded Z data as a txt file (or can be called
matrix?), how to convert them to the vector in order for levelplot to use?
Thanks.
