msdfs
Hello, Last week I submitted a problem with msdfs on samba. I didn't receive any reaction. I've also tried the samba-cvs version but this has also problems. We really like to use msdfs from samba, because we want to put all our homedirectories ( more than 4000 ) in one dfsroot. This is not possible with Microsoft's dfs because this has a limit of 1000 .... I didn't found this

how to start a replication master-master correctly
Hi all, I currently have one dovecot 2.2.15 working and I would like to add a second master server. If I configure the second server and enable the dsync in both servers, the sync will copy everything from A to B ? I mean, B server won't remove messages in A as it doesn't have anything in its users mailbox? The second master server will be a cold server just for contingency. Thanks

Azure AD Connect and replication issues
just small update: - idfix tool (Directory Synchronization Error Remediation Tool / https://github.com/microsoft/idfix) shows just small issues like empty/missing displayName attrib in some of objects which I have corrected and no more issues present at all. - no errors from AAD connect event viewer: final log message is "Scheduler::SchedulerThreadMain : Completed configured scheduler

ldap passwd sync only
Hello I have exactly the same trouble as described here: http://www.nabble.com/ldap-passwd-sync-on-3.0.25a-tf4261008.html on samba-3.0.25b-2.fc7. When i set "ldap passwd sync" to "only" and I change password on some ldap samba user, password in attribute userPassword is never changed by samba daemon (to update NT and LM password I use smbk5pwd overlay). If i set pwd sync to

Azure AD Connect and replication issues
Hi Michal, Seems we are doing similar things at the moment: getting samba to work with azure AD. We also see the high CPU usage on the DC that the Azure AD Connect server connected to. Between 70 - 100 percent in our case. We are not seeing any replication issues after azure AD Connect, and I have a script that automatically checks replication every few minutes. I was the one reporting the

Multiple (AJAX) Observers on the Same Field and MSIE
I have been using multiple observers, i.e., observe_field(), on the same input field and relying on them to execute in the same order that they appear in the page. This has been working fine in FireFox, but it does not seem to work in MSIE; the requests come in and are processed in a different order. Now, I''ve always been a little hesitant about using this technique, but it always

msdfs root = yes is the default???
Why is that when you create a share, the default is 'msdfs root = yes'? Also, why is that a share that is set 'msdfs root = yes' -- or, rather, a share that does /not/ set 'msdfs root = no' -- advertises that it is a DFS root to the Linux CIFS client, /even /when 'host msdfs = no'? This sounds like A) a bug (ignoring 'host msdfs', and B) a misfeature (msdfs

Using MSDFS
I've set up a dfs share according to instructions. There is one part of the instructions that I don't understand. I've checked the forum archives but can't find any examples which might help. In the Instructions section (4.1 of the HTML Samba Project Documentation), is shows how to set up the symbolic links in a DFS share, as shown below. I have 2 Samba servers (SMB1 and SMB2).

MSDFS info...
Hi, I'm new on Samba... I'm trying to set a samba server with a DFS share. I have found this example: # The smb.conf file: [global] netbios name = SAMBA host msdfs = yes [dfs] path = /export/dfsroot msdfs root = yes then I must create some link into /export/dfsroot: root# cd /export/dfsroot root# chown root /export/dfsroot root# chmod 755 /export/dfsroot root# ln -s

msdfs proxy question
Hi List, I am struggling a little bit with the msdfs proxy parameter. I want the samba server as a kind of a bridge between two networks, that the samba server only shares some of the shares provided by our file server to a second network. I don't want the samba srv to be a gw or give the clients a route to the internal network, because it is a total different user group. I first tried to

[RFC][PATCH][UPDATED] Intel(R) LaGrande Technology support
This patch adds SMP support to the previous version. Since that has not been merged I have included it in this patch. This should apply cleanly to the tip. Below is the text of the original submittal, slightly updated. Attached is a preliminary patch that adds Intel(R) LaGrande Technology (LT) (Safer Mode Extensions - SMX) support to Xen. While there are still several enhancements needed for

msdfs proxy and subfolders
Hello, everyone, I'm seeing some inconsistent behavior across SMB clients when configuring shares using the "msdfs proxy" parameter, and was hoping to get some advice from the community on this. My issue is that various SMB clients seem to behave differently when this parameter is pointed as a path that includes a sub-folder under the root share. So, given the following share

MSDFS...
Hi, After some experiment with MSDFS on Samba I have seen this problems and I don't know if this are caused by my possible wrong configuration or if are "feature" of MSDFS: -as described into the documentation I compiled a Samba version with --with-msdfs and this smb.conf (server 172.26.11.236). The configuration file is: [Global] host msdfs = yes [dfs] path = /mnt/disk

problems with msdfs
We did some tests with msdfs on HP/UX with samba version 2.2.1.a and we found a strange problem. We create a msdfs root on a HP/UX system with samba version 2.2.1.a and create a link in it to an HP/UX system with samba version 2.0.7. We mapped the link in the msdfs root on a NT4 system to drive F. The share contains the source of samba and in explorer we went to :

Samba-3.0 and the --with-msdfs compile flag
Hi all, First, I'm no longer on the list, so please CC me if you reply to the group. I've hunted around, but I cannot find anything about this. The --with-msdfs compile flag is not present in ./configure --help. Is dfs built now by default? OR - is it no longer supported? Thanks, -- Christopher Barry Manager of Information Systems InfiniCon Systems http://www.infiniconsys.com

howto achieve 'hide unreadable' for msdfs symlinks
hi, on a samba domain member file server i'm using dfs root shares with multiple msdfs symlinks pointing to other shares (on the same server), which works fine. These linked shares have different access rights, therefore a user might have access to one linked share but not to another. Is there any option to hide msdfs-symlinks to shares that a user cannot read? (the same as 'hide
