Adding/Removing bricks/changing replica value of a replicated volume (Gluster 3.2.1, OpenSuse 11.3/11.4)
Hi! Until now, I use Gluster in a 2-server setup (volumes created with replica 2). Upgrading the hardware, it would be helpful to extend to volume to replica 3 to integrate the new machine and adding the respective brick and to reduce it later back to 2 and removing the respective brick when the old machine is cancelled and not used anymore. But it seems that this requires to delete and

Replicated volume, one slow brick
I have been trying to figure out how glusterfs-fuse client will handle it when 1 of 3 bricks in a 3-way replica is slower than the others. It looks like a glusterfs-fuse client will send requests to all 3 bricks when accessing a file. But what happens when one of the bricks is not responding in time? We saw an issue when we added external load to the raid volume where the brick was located. The

Problem adding replicated bricks on FreeBSD
Hi Folks, I'm trying to debug an issue that I've found while attempting to qualify GlusterFS for potential distributed storage projects on the FreeBSD-11.1 server platform - using the existing package of GlusterFS v3.11.1_4 The main issue I've encountered is that I cannot add new bricks while setting/increasing the replica count. If I create a replicated volume "poc"

Expand distributed replicated volume with new set of smaller bricks
We currently have a 3 node gluster setup each has a 100TB brick (total 300TB, usable 100TB due to replica factor 3) We would like to expand the existing volume by adding another 3 nodes, but each will only have a 50TB brick. I think this is possible, but will it affect gluster performance and if so, by how much. Assuming we run a rebalance with force option, will this distribute the existing data

Quorum in distributed-replicate volume
I've configured 6 bricks as distributed-replicated with replica 2, expecting that all active bricks would be usable so long as a quorum of at least 4 live bricks is maintained. However, I have just found http://docs.gluster.org/en/latest/Administrator%20Guide/Split%20brain%20and%20ways%20to%20deal%20with%20it/ Which states that "In a replica 2 volume... If we set the client-quorum

Expand distributed replicated volume with new set of smaller bricks
Hi, Yes this is possible. Make sure you have cluster.weighted-rebalance enabled for the volume and run rebalance with the start force option. Which version of gluster are you running (we fixed a bug around this a while ago)? Creating cluster replica on 2 nodes 2 bricks each.
Hello We are trying to setup Gluster for our project/scratch storage HPC machine using a replicated mode with 2 nodes, 2 bricks each (14tb each). Our goal is to be able to have a replicated system between node 1 and 2 (A bricks) and add an additional 2 bricks (B bricks) from the 2 nodes. so we can have a total of 28tb replicated mode. Node 1 [ (Brick A) (Brick B) ] Node 2 [ (Brick A) (Brick

How to expand Replicated Volume
Hi Nag Pavan Chilakam Can I use this command "gluster vol add-brick vol1 replica 2 file01g:/brick3/data/vol1 file02g:/brick4/data/vol1" in both file server 01 and 02 exited without add new servers. Is it ok for expanding volume? Thanks for your support Regards, Giang 2017-06-14 22:26 GMT+07:00 Nag Pavan Chilakam <nag.chilakam at gmail.com>: > Hi, > You can use add-brick

Hi, Please let us know what commands you ran so far and the output of the *gluster volume info* command. Adding larger bricks to an existing volume
I have a 10x2 distributed replica volume running gluster3.8. Each of my bricks is about 60TB in size. ( 6TB drives Raid 6 10+2 ) I am running of storage so I intend on adding servers with larger 8Tb drives. My new bricks will be 80TB in size. I will make sure the replica to the larger brick will match in size. Will gluster place more files on the larger bricks? Or will I have wasted space? In

replicated-striped volume growing question
Hy, I have the following question: If I build a replicated-striped volume (one replica and one stripe) when I want to grow that volume I can grow it adding one brick and its replica or I have to add the stripe and Its replica also? Hope you can help me, thanks in advance Juan Brenes Imprima este correo solo si es necesario. Act?e responsablemente con el Medio Ambiente.

Creating cluster replica on 2 nodes 2 bricks each.
Hi Nithya This is what i have so far, I have peer both cluster nodes together as replica, from node 1A and 1B , now when i tried to add it , i get the error that it is already part of a volume. when i run the cluster volume info , i see that has switch to distributed-replica. Thanks Jose [root at gluster01 ~]# gluster volume status Status of volume: scratch Gluster process

Creating cluster replica on 2 nodes 2 bricks each.
Hi Jose, Gluster is working as expected. The Distribute-replicated type just means that there are now 2 replica sets and files will be distributed across them. A volume of type Replicate (1xn where n is the number of bricks in the replica set) indicates there is no distribution (all files on the volume will be present on all the bricks in the volume). A volume of type Distributed-Replicate

changing volume from Distributed-Replicate to Distributed
hi all, as the title says - i'm looking to change a volume from dist/repl -> dist. we're currently running 3.2.7. a few of questions for you gurus out there: - is this possible to do on 3.2.7? - is this possible to do with 3.4.1? (would involve upgrade) - are there any pitfalls i should be aware of? many thanks in advance, regards, paul -------------- next part -------------- An

Expand replicated bricks to more nodes/change replica count
Hi list I have set up several volumes on a two-node Gluster setup using "replica 2" configurations. I would like to add two more nodes to the trusted pool so that all volumes are replicated on 4 nodes. I wonder if that can be done online, but after doing some research on this I didn't find evidence that it's possible to change the replica count _after_ the volume has been
