fix and edit don't work: unable to open X Input Method->segfault
I can't run fix() or edit() anymore. Did I break my system? I'm running Debian Linux with R-2.14.1. As far as I can tell, the R packages came from Debian's testing "wheezy" repository. I would like to know if users on other types of systems see the same problem. If no, then, obviously, it is a Debian-only issue and I can approach it from that point of view. And if no other

page() (Was: Re: predict.smooth.spline.fit and Recall() (Was: Re: Return function from function and Recall()))
Here I think S3 dispatch is very natural. Try the following: page <- function(x, method = c("dput", "print"), ...) UseMethod("page") page.getAnywhere <- function(x, ..., idx=NULL) { name <- x$name; objects <- x$obj; if (length(objects) == 0) stop("no object named '", name, "' was found"); if (is.null(idx)) {

Running Edit() or Fix() on Linux Machine
Hi all, As I am new to using R on a Linux machine I have another question if that's ok. I am trying to use the fix() or edit() function on this Linux machine but I get the following error message: Error in dataentry(datalist, modes) : invalid device In addition: Warning message: In edit.data.frame(get(subx,envir=parent),title = subx, ...) : Unable to create fontset

PLS Error message
Hi, I work with hyperspectral remote sensing data and I try to built a pls model with this data. I already built the model but if I try to calculate the RMSEP and R2 with a test data set I get the following error message: Error: variable 'subX' was fitted with type "nmatrix.501" but type "nmatrix.73" was supplied The problem is that I don't get the message for

fix() and edit() not working with Rcmdr and german LANG-variable
Dear Mailinglist, I just set up an R 2.9.1 environment with Rcmdr 1.4-6 on Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04. As I'm from Germany my $LANG variable is set to "de_DE.UTF-8". Now, when I open up Rcmdr and try to edit a new datamatrix there is no edit window appearing: Datenmatrix <- edit(as.data.frame(NULL)) ERROR: invalid device In addition, there are plenty of warning messages in the

Strategies to deal with unbalanced classification data in randomForest
Hello all, I have become somewhat confused with options available for dealing with a highly unbalanced data set (10000 in one class, 50 in the other). As a summary I am unsure: a) if I am perform the two class weighting methods properly, b) if the data are too unbalanced and that this type of analysis is appropriate and c) if there is any interaction between the weighting for class imbalances

handling big data set in R
Hello R users, I'm wondering whether it is possible to manage big data set in R? I have a data set with 3 million rows and 3 columns (X,Y,Z), where X is the group id. For each X, I need to run 2 regression on the submatrix. I used the function "split": datamatrix<-read.csv("datas.csv", header=F, sep=",") dim(datamatrix) # [1] 2980523 3

predict.smooth.spline.fit and Recall() (Was: Re: Return function from function and Recall())
Hi, forget about the below details. It is not related to the fact that the function is returned from a function. Sorry about that. I've been troubleshooting soo much I've been shoting over the target. Here is a much smaller reproducible example: x <- 1:10 y <- 1:10 + rnorm(length(x)) sp <- smooth.spline(x=x, y=y) ypred <- predict(sp$fit, x) # [1] 2.325181 2.756166 ...

[LLVMdev] Instruction descriptions question

Ok. Note that the X86 backend is one of the most complex though, because it supports several subtargets and ABIs, which makes it more complex than some other targets. >

nonlinear least square optimization
Hi, I've been using "nlregb" routine in splus3.4, but cannot find it here in R. Is it hidden in some library? Or there is a routine equivalent to it but with a different name? I'm planning to move part of my from S to R so that I can work comfortablely at home. Any suggestion is highly appreciated. regards, Tony -- \|||/ Q o o Q ==========================oooQ= ( -

Please expose predicates to MachineVerifier
Could we expose predicates defined in the target InstrInfo.td file to the MachineVerifier? We use BuildMI() to create many instructions after ISEL, but the predicates are not being checked at this point. Thus, I could forget to check the target and build an instruction that is illegal for a specific configuration. In such a case it would be nice if the MachineVerifier could detect this for me.

Reference class inheritance using matrix/array class
Hi, I'm investigating converting some S4 classes to reference classes and have a question about inheritance. The primary data structure for the original S4 class is a 3-d array. Using the "contains" parameter when defining the class permits me to inherit all of the array-related methods. Of particular utility for me is the ability to access the array via [] indexing. It all works
