altmbr.bin always boots the first partition
Hi, altmbr.bin and its variants apparently always boot the first partition (in Syslinux 4.05, but this issue seems older than that). The following example uses parted 3.0: ---------- rm -f flat mkdir mnt truncate -s 20M flat parted -s flat mklabel msdos mkpart primary fat32 1MiB 10485759B mkpart primary ext2 11MiB 100% unit KiB print losetup -o 1048576 -s 9437184 /dev/loop7 flat mkdosfs

Fwd: Login shell always /bin/false or whatever template is set in smb.conf
Hi all, I have just set up a Samba AD DC, my first time. Ubuntu Server 16.04.5 LTS running Samba 4.3.11-Ubuntu. If I add the below to */etc/samba/smb.conf* then the /bin/bash shell is applied to all users: template shell = /bin/bash With *samba-tool user add* I am able to specify --login-shell parameter however whatever value I pass here does not seem to apply correctly, as confirmed by

[PATCH v2] v2v: -o openstack: -oo verify-server-certificate=(true|false) (RHBZ#1651432).
If ‘virt-v2v -oo verify-server-certificate=false’ is used then ‘openstack --insecure’ flag is added whenever we invoke the openstack command. This turns off SSL certificate validation. The default is to verify the server certificate (which is the default of the openstack command). --- v2v/output_openstack.ml | 16 +++++++++++++++- v2v/test-v2v-o-openstack.sh | 2 ++

[PATCH v3] v2v: -o openstack: Allow -oo insecure (RHBZ#1651432).
Previously we allowed arbitrary flags to be passed through to the underlying openstack CLI command, provided they have the format ‘--key=value’. We want to pass the ‘--insecure’ flag through, but that doesn't have the key=value form. However a small modification to the matching rules would allow this. The effect of this change is that you can now use ‘virt-v2v -oo insecure’ to turn off SSL

[PATCH] v2v: -o openstack: Check openstack binary exists before running it.
Improves the error message when openstack is not installed: $ virt-v2v -i disk fedora-28.img -o openstack virt-v2v: error: no binary called ‘openstack’ was found on the $PATH. libvirt RPC error
Hi, I'm using qemu+ssh://username at hostname/system as the remote URI. Libvirt seems to be communicating fine until some 2 minutes (we poll every 5 seconds) and then it throws up RPC error and many counters are wrong. But if I collect on localhost the counters seems to be coming fine. Test and testvm are guests on the local machine where as Win8 and Ubuntu* are remote URI's connected

Sound always disabled in AoE II: AoK
Hi all! First my system info: Wine version: 1.3.28 OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Graphics: Mobile Intel GMA X3100 The problem basically is that I am getting no sound when I play AoE II: AoK. The game starts and works otherwise fine, except for the sound bit. When I look in the game's Options menu, both Sound Volume and Music Volume sliders are down and it shows Off. Re: libvirt/dnsmasq is not adhering to static DHCP assignments
Hi, It looks like that's the issue: # cat /var/lib/libvirt/dnsmasq/osc_mgmt.hostsfile 52:54:00:2c:85:92,192.168.80.1,openstack-controller-00 But it makes me wonder...libvirt should be generating and managing this file right? Do I need to edit this myself or should libvirt be updating this file? If so then why isn't it? On Mon, Oct 30, 2017 at 5:21 AM, Yalan Zhang

Who's using OpenStack Cinder & Gluster? [ Was Re: [Gluster-devel] Fwd: Re: GlusterFS removal from Openstack Cinder]
Joe, Agree with you on turning this around into something more positive. One aspect that would really help us decide on our next steps here is the actual number of deployments that will be affected by the removal of the gluster driver in Cinder. If you are running or aware of a deployment of OpenStack Cinder & Gluster, can you please respond on this thread or to me & Niels in private

Snapshot without volumes temporarily
Hello, I want to do a snapshot which the VM has volumes. But I want to skip the volume check when I do the snapshot. (Which means I want to do a snapshot without detaching the volume) So I try to write a snapshot XML refer by http://libvirt.org/formatsnapshot.html as following: vda is my VM basic disk (qcow2) vdb is a volume (raw) ================ t1.xml =============== <domainsnapshot>

Error when creating domain with virsh+qemu
Cheers, I'm working on Ubuntu server 11.10 32 bit with libvirt 0.9.2 and qemu-kvm 0.14.1. I have a user oneadmin:oneadmin who also belongs to kvm and libvirtd groups. I have set qemu.conf and libvirtd.conf with user/group oneadmin. I have disk.0 and deployment.0 files owned by oneadmin. My system does not support hardware virtualization so I don't have /dev/kvm. I'm able to
