BAD rsync, or is it bad me?
Something very scary just happened to me while I was creating a ksh script
to rsync mulitple FS between two hosts. Here is the script, notice the 'i'
at the end of rsync line, it got put there by mistake. You also see the
contents of $FSLIST cat'd below the script. When I ran this, it started to
delete files in root's home directory and place files from the fist FS,

"rsync: not found" error with sshwindows
I'm trying to copy files from a Linux system to a Windows XP system running
sshwindows. I can use gFTP and log in just fine. sshwindows is based on
cygwin so you just use /cygdrive/c/ to access the Windows C: drive, etc.
But for some reason, rsync is having problems transferring files to this system:

autofs mounts all map entries after unmount timeout
Hello,
i have run an update on a machine with
CentOS release 7.4.1708 and autofs 1:5.0.7-70.el7_4.1
to
CentOS release 7.6.1810 and autofs 1:5.0.7-99.el7
The configuration did not change, all auto.* maps look the same as
before. After the update, the autofs seems to be broken for the direct
mounts. When reaching the umount timeout it does the opposite and mounts
all direct mounts and never

Monitor does not like variable subsitutions
Hello,
I have been attempting to get the Monitor function to
accept a loal variable substitution in order to use
the same filename later in the same context. Monitor
does not appear to like it, as it attempts to use
wav|filename as the recording type, as opposed to just
wav.
Here is what I get if I just supply a filename
directly (it works fine):

In my use, we continue to use autofs for automounts of CIFS volumes,
because as best I can tell, systemd doesn't support using the
request-key infrastructure to use a user's kerberos ticket to set up
the automount.

open ssl
I am trying to get any version of sshd working on a cobalt raq3/4(one of
each). I tried ssh.com's version(1.2.31) and I got linking errors. I am
going to try to install openssh, but I need to install openssl, and was
wondering if that will mess up the web server on the raqs. Any responses
are welcome.

Problems with password authentication on Samba as an AD-Member
Hello,
I've got some problems with a Samba Server. The Samba Server is member
in an Active-Directory Domain (Win2000), it is NOT the domaincontroller.
Authentication is kerberos-based (smb.conf: securty=ADS, winbind). The
Sambaserver is accessed by Windows-Clients, that are domainmembers and
by some Windows-Client, that are not. Originally Users, who were logged
on the domain could access

Can be done through systemd, not has to be done via systemd. It'd be news to
me that there's anything stopping you using autofs.
I see no way to replicate most of the functionality of autofs with this.

Automount Windows filesystems with dynamic mapping
I've run into a problem that I've found no existing solution to. Any
help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. I've outlined the
requirements below.
*** Linux users need to access Windows shares without typing out the
entire mount command.
For example, with automounter /net functionality a user can simply cd
/net/HOSTNAME/EXPORT and gain access to the nfs export if he

smbmount uclinux
Hello All,
Is there any information other than uclinux-dev mailing list that
outlines the proper way to use smbmount on uclinux? I have looked
through the mail lists on uclinux-dev and googled everything that I
could think of.
I have tried every form of the smbmount //windowsbox/share /mnt -o
options I can think of. I always get ERRDOS ERRnoaccess (Access
Denied).

"unit files" to describe the mount. One holds the information for a

using autofs on C-7
Hi all!
I'm trying to set up autofs on my C7 netbook so I can automount a cifs
share (actually two) from my NAS box, and because when I'm not at home
I don't want it attempting to mount it.
so I've read several howtos on it, including the one on the CentOS Wiki.
but what I've got isn't working right, and I don't know why.
I'm trying to follow the
