huge increase in storage activity afther dovecot upgrade
Yes, multiple imap servers using one shared nfs storage. With the same
config on 2.2.13 the public interface traffic was similar to the storage
interface, around 100 mbps.
After we switch to 2.2.27 the storage interface traffic jumped 10 times
while the public interface stayed the same. This make us thinking that
something is wrong and each time a user logs in the whole Inbox content
is read

Disable maildir indexing and dovecot-uidlist on LMTP/LDA delivery
Hello all,
Is there a way to use LMTP (or LDA) so that maildir index and
dovecot-uidlist are not updated?
My setup is such that mail delivery sees user's maildir as write only. This
setup works well when using postfix for mail delivery, but when I try to
switch to dovecot LMTP the lmtp process wants to read the dovecot-uidlist
and fails on insufficient privileges. Is there a way around this

Thank you !
I was little concerned that the following settings are not in line with the
new version:
mail_nfs_index = yes
mail_nfs_storage = yes
mail_fsync = always
mailbox_list_index = yes
maildir_stat_dirs = yes
mmap_disable = yes

Slow reading of large dovecot-uidlist files
Hi there,
(context: I was optimizing Roundcube mailbox list server response, and in
that 300-400ms response time, around 170ms is spent on single fgets() call
which is waiting IMAP repsonse to "SELECT MyMailbox" command)
I straced dovecot and of the whole request/response process, around 30ms is
spent for everything else, and overwhelming majority of time (150-170ms) is

lda sieve error using global after sieve script
Hi all,
ok, so I've implemented an after sieve script with the following line
in the plugins area :
sieve_after = /home/mailboxes/sieve/to_spam_folder.sieve
It seems to work ok on some accounts, but then I'm getting the following
error in the deliver error log for many accounts :
Error: sieve: script /home/mailboxes/sieve/to_spam_folder.sieve failed

Permission denied on dovecot.lda-dupes
Hi,
I have converted my Imap Server from Courier to Dovecot in order to use
sieve support.
Everything works fine with the exception that the sender always gets the
vacation msg since there is a permission error on writing of
dovecot.lda-dupes.
I've tried several version of permissions including 777 to both home and
maildir - always the same result.
I also googled for hours ..
Any help will be

NFS mail storage
The parameters listed for nfs installations (mmap_disable,
doctlock_use_excl, mail_nfs_storage, mail_nfs_index) - are they
necessary for data integrity, and/or do they compensate for NFS latency
and improve performance?
My understanding is the indexes are a critical part of a dbox storage,
but on the other hand having local indexes is a major performance
consideration. Is maildir a

Many "Error: Corrupted index cache file /XXX/dovecot.index.cache: invalid record size"
Hi all,
I just joigned this list, so I'm sorry if this problem has already been
reported.
I'm running Dovecot 2.0.13 on many servers, one for POP/IMAP access,
others for LDA, others for authentification only, etc.
All servers are accessing a shared file system, based on MooseFS
(www.moosefs.org). The FS is mounted using FUSE.
All my Dovecot servers have this configuration :

High Load average on NFS Spool - v.2.1.15 & 2.2.13
I have two servers pointing to an NFS mounted mail spool with dovecot.?
Since I recently switched from using Dovecot v1.X, I have been
experiencing high CPU use with the two Dovecot servers. I am not certain
why they are not well behaved.? Here is the configuration information.
This configuration is currently running at a load average of 17.

Thank you for your reply.
One questionthough, if you add a mount point how do you know what user
to move ?
