Tilde expansion in ManageSieve for dovecot-1.1.
Greetings all, I'll skip the details of the setup, except to say that it has a non-standard (and non-templateable) home directory path for virtual users. Ran into the following problem when a debian (possibly from backports) packaged dovecot-1.1.2 was upgraded to a dovecot-1.1.13-2~bpo50+1 (definately from backports): sieve-storage: root directory specified by mail data does not exist:

tilde expansion with install.packages
I've noticed recently that 'update.packages' and 'install.packages' seem to not do tilde expansion anymore, i.e. when I run update.packages("~/R-local/lib") on R-alpha (r41043) I get the message /home/rpeng/install/R-alpha/lib64/R/bin/INSTALL: line 304: cd: ~/R-local/lib: No such file or directory and the package is subsequently installed in the current working

CentOS6 gvfs disk thrashing
We recently started upgrading users' workstations to CentOS6. Now we've come across an interesting issue: ~user/.local/share/gvfs-metadata is filling up with tons of files. Once there are around 69270 of them, no more are being created, and the NetApp filer the user's home is on logs: Directory ..../user/.local/share/gvfs-metadata/ reached the maxdirsize limit. x2go on CentOS6
> The errors you posted were from the client. Assuming you can ssh into > the remote machine without a problem, do you see error messages there > on the server? Thanks, Akemi, you have hit the nail on the head! The spurious error message was caused by a statement in .cshrc that created output, a stray unescaped exclamation mark in an alias definition. And that with me preaching to my

dbus-daemon and CentOS6
We are seeing high load developing over time on some machines that have dozens of user sessions. One common characteristic is that dbus-daemon uses near 100% cpu. Red Hat seems to be aware of the problem, but the solutions are available to subscribers only. https://access.redhat.com/solutions/110403 https://access.redhat.com/solutions/363554 Does anyone have access and can summarize here?

Hello, I have several virtual machines, all with CentOS 6.x and one so called virtual server at a web hoster my virtual machines (VMware) were all installed manually using the .iso, some exist longer and therefore were originally a CentOS 6.3, some are newer and wer originally a CentOS 6.6; and this virtual server has been installed using a preconfigured image from the web hoster; on all

4.4.3 on CentOS 6: no guest login
I have built 4.4.3 on CentOS 6, with a fairly minimalist smb.conf, provisioned the domain as per the wiki [1], and cannot get past test one: [root at frodo ~]# smbclient -L localhost -U% Domain=[ADTEST] OS=[Windows 6.1] Server=[Samba 4.4.3] tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED I can get output if I specify a username, and give a password, but anonymous access seems to be

LVM Input/output error
Hi, I recently installed centos for the first time and I like it! Also, I just started working with lvm. The following warnings are genertated whenever I run one of lvm commands on the external usb disk (MyBook by Western Digital). * What could be the source for those messages? * Should I worry about them (writing into the created LV's seems to work)? * If yes, how to fix them? Gnome weather applet stranded
The Gnome weather report applet has ceased working on CentOS5/6. http://weather.noaa.gov/ says "This service is no longer available". Are there any good alternatives? I liked the applet as it allowed the use of a custom radar map. As I just discovered, the weather functionality of the CentOS6 Gnome clock applet was using the same service.

Firefox 68 jnlp files
It seems that firefox 68.x, as distributed with CentOS6 updates, no longer allows opening jnlp files with javaws The "Choose Helper Application" window popping up after selecting "Open with/Other" has a predefined list of applications that cannot be customised. I'm sure it must be a configuration issue as this works fine with the same browser on other distributions, but

Including a tilde in a plotmath-type call
Suppose I have a plot plot(1:10, pch = "") And I want some text to indicate a Normal distrubition. I could do this: text(5, 6, substitute(X~~~~N(mu, sigma^2)), adj = 0) text(5.35, 6, "~", adj = 0) But that's clumsy, and depending on your plotting device, might not even look sensible. I'd prefer to be able to do it more directly and simply the way these do: text(5,

x2go on CentOS6
Has anyone managed to get the x2go server working on CentOS 6.7? I started testing x2go from EPEL under 6.6, and it worked well. Then I didn't use it in 6 months plus, eventually upgraded the machine to 6.7, and it's no longer working. Both Windows and Linux clients error out with "Connection failed. 0: Event not found." A Linux client run with the debug option reports:
