Uninstalling mono
I'm trying to run my first application through wine, and it requires the .NET framework. So I did "winetricks mono28". After installing that, I still got "wine: Install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET executables". So I played with moving the mono folder around in ~/.wine/drive_C/Program files. (I saw on one of the winehw.org pages that it needed to be in

My first attempts at Wine
I need to be sure that Wine will be able to run some of my XP applications before I commit to linux, so I installed Lucid Puppy 525 ( a cut down version of Lucid) and Wine - the default install version is set to v1.1.43, so that wasted a lot of time. I then installed Wine v1.3.13 , since the stable v1.2 wasn't on offer. I'm going to need Java Runtime Environment, so I started by

Mono to use for Writers Blocks 4?
Writers Blocks has issued a new version. Version 3 ran with winetricks v6run and mfc40 But it appears that Version 4 needs something else. There is a free trial version on the web site.

X-Lite-4.0 barfs on install. What's Mono?
This is a low priority thing, but X-Lite-4.0 is not out for linux and the windows version barfs, and I'm wondering if anyone can spot what's going wrong. I go through menus, agree to license, accept default install location & click next. Nothing happens. Click next again, and I have the "install" option. That exits prematurely with this: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ bash-4.1$ wine

I am trying to use the mono26 install from winetricks in order to run an installer that fails to find: C:\\windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\mscorsvw.exe even though I have both that 2.0 and the 3.0 framework in my .wine/ folder. Impulse fails to start
So I tried to run Impulse on my Ubuntu 11.04 laptop and it installed fine (or at least seemed to). When I tried to run it I got the working cursor for a bit then nothing. I ran it in terminal and got a error message about running the Windows version of Mono so I went online and did a search for the error message and found a file called mono-2.4.2.3-gtksharp-2.12.9-win32-3.exe and ran it.
