CentOS 6 and pxeboot
Well, I started the install, got pxeboot to get to the kickstart file, formatted the drive... and then it failed, telling me "unable to read group information from repositories. This is a problem with the generation of your install tree." A quick google gives me the first hit from a year ago, bug 4372 <http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4372>, which says there's a metadata

CentOS 6 and pxeboot
Hi, folks, We've been using pxeboot to pull up a menu, to build or rebuild machines for years. We have this new server, and it fails. Times out. What's happening is that it tries in this order .../pxelinux.cfg/b8945908-d6a6-41a9-611d-74a6ab80b83d .../pxelinux.cfg/01-88-99-aa-bb-cc-dd .../pxelinux.cfg/C0A8025B .../pxelinux.cfg/C0A8025 .../pxelinux.cfg/C0A802

CentOS-6 by PXEboot?
Has anyone succeeded in installing CentOS-6.0 by PXEboot. If so, would you say how you did it, please. I tried (on an HP MicroServer), but gave up in the end and used a USB stick installation instead. But I'd be very interested to know how to do it, for the future. Unfortunately I didn't keep a proper note of my PXEboot attempt, but IIRC the problem was that install.img was not found,

pxebooting
Digging into this, as we rework it, here's a question: assuming the system being pxebooted is server 1, and the tftp server is server 2, on server 2, in the menu for pxeboot, is there any way to specify that the image to boot, and the initrd, are on a server 3? That is, MENU repoboot KERNEL repo://my/repo/images/vmlinuz APPEND repo://my/repo/images/initrd.img (or an IP address, like

Installation on Knights Landing (KNL) machines failure
Hi all, We have a customer, where we are trying to install CentOS 7.3 on the new Intel Knights Landing nodes, unfortunately, we are unable to install then using PXE boot. Now, I have a lot of experience of installation of machines using PXE boot, so the setup of that is not the problem. Both myself and my colleagues have looked through the problem, and we are unable to get much diagnosis of

EL7 mirror: "There is no installed groups file."
I installed the RHEL 7 beta here to test while waiting for CentOS 7 to arrive. On noticing that yum didn't work, I decided to set up a local mirror. I rsync'd ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/rhel/beta/7/x86_64/os/Packages/ to a local web server here, then regenerated the repodata directory with createrepo. Now yum works fine, for the most part. "yum search foo" pulls

Interactive PXE install
I've got a system (Supermicro P8SCT) that lacks a floppy or CD and it's old enough that it won't boot from a USB stick. Before I scrounge an optical drive to plug in, I thought perhaps I could install over the network, as I see "legacy LAN boot" in the BIOS menu. The guides for a LAN install I've found all want to do an automated kickstart install. Are there any

createrepo command for 6.4 respin
Hi List, I have been searching for the correct createrepo command to make a 6.4 respin. We have been doing this with previous versions using createrepo -u "media://$discinfo" -g ${DIR}/my_kickstart${VER}/comps.xml . Which had worked fine until now. Jigdo, etc...
Hi folks, I've just finished rsyncing/downloading/jigdoizing the entire i386/x86_64 CentOS 4.2 distribution. If anyone is interested go to http://mirror.tcs.ii.uj.edu.pl/jigdo/ You'll need to edit the .jigdo file by hand to change the server section [Servers] CentOS42=file:/opt/mirrors/centos/4.2/ to point to a local mirror (file, http or ftp), ie. to use kernel.org: [Servers]

CentOS 6.9, shredding a RAID
I've got an old RAID that I attached to a box. LSI card, and the RAID has 12 drives, for a total RAID size of 9.1TB, I think. I started shred /dev/sda the Friday before last... and it's still running. Is this reasonable for it to be taking this long...? mark

Failed to get to installer for CentOS 7 VM under CentOS 6...
I just tried to create a CentOS 7 VM on a CentOS 6 host, but it crashes to the dracut prompt. I am using the PXEBoot installer. I *think* it is unhappy with the (virtual) graphics controller, but I am not sure. Kickstart package groups
Hello, I'm building another kickstart CD, minimal, and creating my own repository. Is there any way I can get the list of files that a group (like @core o @base) will install? The idea is to put only those files in the repository to be included later in the iso file, and only those files, nothing else. Thanks in advance Francisco -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

systemd, oh my
Ok, folks, I don't get this one at all. I've got a server that I just rebuilt last week, from C5 to C7. It used to export filesystems. Those were moved to another server, and NFS wasn't turned up when I built it. I just turned it down again. And yet, I see Mar 14 10:26:33 <servername> systemd: Job dev-disk-by\x2dlabel-export1.device/start timed out. Mar 14 10:26:33

Booting OpenBSD with pxelinux
I've got PXE/TFTP setup for various Linux distributions and some utilities (clonezilla, dban, etc). I'm now starting in on OpenBSD. As far as I've been able to figure out via internet searches, pxelinux (from the syslinux package) is unable to pass control of a machine directly to a BSD kernel. Instead, you have to use the BSD-supplied 'pxeboot' loader. The naming

bareos on CentOS 6
Hi, folks, I'm hoping *someone* here has worked a bit with bareos. I've tried posting to the google groups for it... and haven't even had one person view my post.... It was working fine, backing up windows boxes for months. Then, about a week ago, the server got a regular yum update, and rebooted... and it's broken. A job will start... and just keep running forever (as in,

selinux prohibiting sssd usage
I've got a CentOS 6 machine that's slated to go into production providing some web and development-repository services. Part of the environment is gitweb, which works as expected with one glitch: SELinux doesn't allow gitweb.cgi to query sssd to display who owns the repositories. The audit log entries are pretty straightforward, e.g., type=AVC msg=audit(XXXXXXXXXXXX): avc:

ethtool
We've just moved one a new server from our sever room, where I built it, to the datacenter. We want to force autoneg off, and tell it gigabit and full duplex. Using ethtool, I get no errors setting the speed or duplex. HOWEVER, autoneg on works... and autoneg off utterly refuses to work, and gives: ethtool -s eth0 autoneg off Cannot set new settings: Invalid argument not setting autoneg
