Suggested changes for Virtual Box Guest Additions installation guide
Username: KevinPhillips Wiki location: https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Virtualization/VirtualBox/CentOSguest I've been working with CentOS for some time now, and have noticed that the wiki describing how to install Virtual Box guest additions in VMs running CentOS is a bit vague and slightly misleading and could use some improvements. I've never contributed to your wiki here before so

CentOSguest page
Hi, I am JamesLownie, I want to work on the page https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Virtualization/VirtualBox/CentOSguest. The information here is out of date, I am currently working out how to do this and when I am successful I want to document the procedure on the wiki. Thanks, James Lownie

http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaRuntimeEnvironment Did not make it DRAFT as it has evolved from old pages, has been well tested, and is near perfect. :-) Constructive criticism is, as usual, solicited and welcomed. Phil

configuring samba for virtualbox guest os host only network
Dear samba users: I am new on this list and know samba at a very basic level. I use openSUSE 42.2 Leap with its default samba 4.4.2 version. This is what I would like to achieve: I have a guest windows OS in virtualbox 5.1. Occasionally I have to print documents from this guest OS using my printer configured in openSUSE. I would like to use samba to share my printer between the linux host and

no luck with CentOS 6.2 patch vboxaddition_4.1.8
Hi, After applying the patch as described by the wiki ( wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Virtualization/VirtualBox/CentOSguest), install.sh still results in a Fail at: Building the OpenGL support module. I don't know how to start debugging myself. Any advise would be welcome. Kind regards, Henri

Small change to Virtualization/VirtualBox
My CentOS wiki name: MVieira I'd like to suggest a small update to the page http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Virtualization/VirtualBox where it reads "usermod -G vboxusers username" could be updated to "usermod -a -G vboxusers username" The reason being, usermod -G will add the user to the new supplimentary group but will also remove the same user from any other supplementary

Strange problem with CentOS 7 and guest additions in VirtualBox
Hi, I'm having a very weird problem with CentOS as a VirtualBox guest. Let me explain it step by step. tl;dr: I can install VirtualBox Guest Additions and configure a fullscreen 1280x1024 graphical resolution on a full install, but not on a reduced install with a lightweight window manager. Here's what I did. 1. Install vanilla CentOS 7 with KDE. 2. Boot to reduced 1024x768

VNC-Server HowTo
Gerald and P.J., I just finished setting up VNC services following http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/VNC-Server and have a few comments. "2.3. Edit the server configuration" The last line should be corrected from VNCSERVERARGS[1]="-geometry 800x600" to VNCSERVERARGS[3]="-geometry 800x600" "2.4. Create xstartup scripts" Comments about the rational for

High CPU usage when running a CentOS guest in VirtualBox
Hi, I am running CentOS 5.3 32bit as a VirtualBox 3.0.0 guest running on Windows XP. The Windows host CPU usage is constantly at 50% although the CentOS guest is completely idle (i.e. 0.00 load average). I know this is a common problem related to the 1000Hz frequency that the CentOS kernel runs at. With previous versions of CentOS, I used the kernel-vm package [1] and it solved my problem.

OT: snow socket clusters with VirtualBox and VMware player (Linux host, Win guest)
Dear All, I am trying to create socket clusters (using snow and snowfall) with a Windows OS. I am running Windows inside VirtualBox and VMware player (i.e., Windows is guest) from a Debian Linux host system (I've tried in two different Linux systems, an AMD x86-64 workstation and an Intel i686 laptop). However, almost always seting up the cluster fails: either R will hang forever or I will

[PATCH] virt-v2v: Support for Converting VirtualBox Guests
Hi, attached is an updated [1] patch for virt-v2v to support converting VirtualBox guests with VirtualBox Guest Additions [2] installed. With the patch applied a VirtualBox RHEL 6 guest with Guest Additions can be converted with the steps documented in the manual page. I've tested this patch on a RHEL 6.2 host running VirtualBox 4.1.8 using a RHEL 6.2 guest, the guest works as expected
