Initial bootloader requirements of extlinux
I'm trying to understand what the extlinux bootloader code written into a
partition needs to successfully start. I have a disk with four partitions, the
second is marked active and contains a kernel, initrd and root FS and extlinux
has been run on it. If I use mbr.bin as the initial bootloader the system
boots fine.
I need this to work within an environment supplied by a third party. They

Chainloading from Vista x64 bootloader to Extlinux?
Hi syslinux list,
Some months ago, hpa was kind enough to help me troubleshoot booting
Extlinux in a system with the following particulars:
* Windows Vista x64 bootloader in the MBR and Vista installed in /dev/sda1
* Extlinux 3.72 installed in the first sector of /dev/sda2 and Foresight
Linux installed in /dev/sda2 (at the time I tried, 3.72 was the default
bootloader in Foresight)
The problem

Syslinux/Extlinux chain : Unexpected change of Extlinux configuration folder after reboot
Hello,
We are experiencing a strange behaviour on an embedded system (i386 PC board).
The structure of our disk is the following one :
- A 2GB fat16 partition with DOS and syslinux
- A 100GB Ext4 partition with Extlinux an several linux images to boot on ram
- A swap partition
The system boot on syslinux to choose among Dos and Linux boot using chain.
When Linux is chosen, syslinux chains to

The isue is the extlinux 5.01 requires GLIBC 2.7 where as the linux GLIBC

extlinux from syslinux 4.04 failed hard after choosing bzImage.
Hi,
Today I replaced grub(1) with syslinux on my laptop, after rebooting to
syslinux and selecting kernel I got massive freeze along with colorful
output to screen - http://i.imgur.com/lFjFc.jpg
I think I tried everything, even doing esc and writing after boot:
/bzImage-3.1.0, after enter I had the same freeze with the same screen
artefacts.
How I installed extlinux:
mkdir /boot/extlinux

Completely disable local keyboard input in Syslinux / Extlinux?
Hello list,
I'm trying to reuse a fairly old PC based embedded system. It has no
video output at all, no VGA, nothing older, and no keyboard / mouse
connectors. The console is on a standard RS232 interface, including BIOS
output and the minimal BIOS loader. The BIOS emulates / redirects text
output to and keyboard input from the console RS232 interface, but
unfortunately, this emulation

Building extlinux (Syslinux 6.03-pre11)
Hi all,
I'm building extlinux on a rather limited linux system (LFS), bios
version (no efi).
Unfortunately, extlinux.txt does not contain any information related
to build procedures and dependencies.
python /sources/syslinux-6.03pre11/com32/cmenu/menugen.py
--input=/sources/syslinux-6.03pre11/com32/cmenu/test2.menu
--output=test2.c

SYSLINUX 2.20-pre9 released, now with EXTLINUX
... and this is pretty much the first version of 2.20 which can be
considered likely to actually work, except for the Win32 installer.
The big news in this prerelease, by far, is EXTLINUX.
I'm also hacking on a "simple menu system" as a com32 module; basically
a hack to re-parse the config file and display a menu of its label
statements. Don't know when that'll be ready

How often is this the case ?

I think in most cases people try to make _some_other_
disk bootable. If I boot with extlinux as the
bootloader
why should I want to install it again ? Apart from
that it would then require -u not -i.
