Wine Crashing
I tried to run Halo: combat evolved on Wine today, and I got an error message, saying that I was missing a certain dll package. After downloading this package, I tried again, but the window just opened, and then crashed right away.
I get this message in the terminal when I try to run the game.

ibm m1015 w/sandy bridge boot failure
I have a server running CentOS 6.0. Last night I replaced the CPU and
motherboard. Old hardware: Supermicro x8sil-f + x3440. New hardware:
Supermicro x9scl+-f + E3-1230. This is a new Sandy Bridge Xeon.
Everything else remained the same, including an IBM m1015 SAS HBA.
This is just an IBM re-branded LSI 92xx-8i (9220-8i specifically I
believe), which uses the LSI SAS2008 chipset and the

Trying to run (tweak) a few games on Wine
Hello,
I'm a relatively new user to Linux, it's only been two weeks since I'm using it. I'm trying to run two games right now : Halo and Live for Speed. Here are the issues for each.
Halo :
Performance in Halo is excellent, it's actually better in Linux than it was in Windows XP. Frame rate is good, looks like solid 60 FPS all the time. The only problem is the mouse movement

Halo:Combat Evolved with black text and overhead
I recently found that Halo was not properly displaying menu and other 2D items in any color except black. I didn't have this problem until I upgraded to wine 1.3.24. I use Fedora 14 with ATI Radeon HD. Here is a screenshot

I think it has something to do with ATI proprietary driver conflict, since I can run in another PC with nVidia and it displays

[LLVMdev] How to optimize for x86 32-bit on Sandy Bridge processor ?
Hi all,
I would like to know what are the options to use with 3.3rc1 llc/opt to 32-bit (NOT 64-bit) code on a Sandy Bridge processor ?
I've defined a datalayout that use a 32-bit as pointer size and I'm passing -march=x86 to llc, is it enough ?
I'm not using CLANG as front-end.
Thanks for your answer
Seb

CentOS 5.5/5.6 on Sandy Bridge
Hi list
Has anyone tried to install CentOS 5.5 on a system with one of the new
Sandy Bridge processors with integrated GPU? I can live with bad X11
performance - I'm happy as long as I get a X11 desktop (with VESA or
whatever) with no crashes :) I'll mostly use this system as a KVM host
with a VNC server, but I'll like to be able to hook a screen to it.
CentOS 5.6/6.0 will undoubtly

Fwd: Haswell 4770 misidentified as Sandy Bridge
Hi,
I'm running libvert on a Debian 7 system. I have upgraded libvert and qemu
from source (v1.06 and 1.5.0 respectively) and the problem persists. The
guest OS is also a Debian 7 system running a non-SMP kernel. The error
message from virt-manager is

Re: Halo:Combat Evolved with black text and overhead
I am also having the same issue. I have upgraded to the latest wine in the Ubuntu repositories (1.3 beta), but that doesn't fix the issue and makes things worse my messing up my sound... anyway, here is the log file created as was requested in a previous post:

The 1.4 RC is not available through the repos...at least not the repos I have. I'm not going to cry

Kashyap: I have not tried integrating your guest xml but I will look over
it today when I get a chance. Thank you.
Martin: Below is the output from /proc/cpuinfo. Let me know if there is
anything else that would be helpful in debugging this. Thank you,

imap proxy setup - "killed with signal 11"
hi-
i'm setting up an imap proxy in front of a novell groupwise server. it
seems to so far be partially working, but dovecot is having trouble in
certain cases. i expect that it's ultimately due to what i believe is a
very poor implementation of imap provided by groupwise [at least based
on other experiences in the past] - but that's a big part of why i'd

Just more Windows games............
Howdy,
I've been trying to get Dawn of Aces and Warbirds 3 to run in Wine. At the
moment, DoA's intro menu loads ok but when trying to get into the game
itself, it never gets past a blank screen. Most of the time I can't even get
to another console, have to restart X. But I just now got it to try without
going blank (it just exited instead of hanging).
I think the trouble

Enabling Halo sets volume RO
I think the problem here is by default the quorum is playing around
here, to get rid of this you can change quorum type as fixed and the
value as 2 , or you can disable the quorum.
