Roaming profile problems - XP profiles not being saved (Windows 7 profiles work)
Ever since I upgraded Samba from 3.0.x to 3.4.x, and reconfigured it to support Windows 7 clients, I am having issues with roaming profiles on my Windows XP clients. All the machines have been rejoined to the domain, domain authentication appears to be working fine, the home drive is mounted ok, and the profile information is even read, but never updated upon logout. A user with no profile will

Windows XP cannot load roaming profile
Greetings to the samba community, I am trying to set up a small (12 workstations) Windows XP network served by an Ubuntu 6.06 samba PDC. I have domain logons working, but I am unable to properly set up roaming profiles. One of the users called "host" (which means "guest" in Czech) is able to login without any warnings. Other users (so far "administrator" and

When I add a new linux-user, there ist a default profile for the linux-user in the skel-directory. Does Samba provide a 'skel-profile' for new samba-users (=domain- users). If so, where do I have to put the default profile and do I have to set special owner /

Roaming Profile not found - replacement PDC
Howdy everyone: Here's an interesting one: I have joined a machine to the domain, and I log on. Then, I get a message to the effect that the user's roaming profile couldn't be [loaded or found?], and a local profile will be used instead (and actually this also fails, but is not the point of my question... I don't think). Background ========== I took my previous PDC, and

samba 3.5.6 as PDC & LDAP - roaming profile problem
Hi all; for few weeks I'm trying to implement a new samba PDC server for my school. It is based on debian squeeze and samba 3.5.6 with lDAP backend. I was able to join a computer into domain, LDAP is working, mapping home drive for users also. It seems that almost all works good but with one exeption. The one thing which is broken is roaming profile support. When user is logging into domain

NT4 roaming profiles not being saved completely
Hi :) I'm working with Samba 2.2.5 (Debian unstable) and have been trying to get roaming profiles working correctly. My test client is NT4 (SP5) which is able to log onto the domain correctly, however even if I do things like change the background colour, change registry entries, put stuff on the desktop, when I log off the account, only some of the profile is uploaded. I say 'some'

problems with print$
Hi All, I finally signed up for the list after years of using Samba successfully - a testament to the quality of Samba. Yet now I have a problem with the point-and-print functionality. I am able to authenticate against my server (Solaris 8, Samba 3.0.7, OpenLDAP 2.1.25) as user 'chuck' in my LDAP directory and browse the shares, but when I right-click on the printer and select

Roaming Profiles only for Admin?
Hi all, I am currently fighting with roaming user profiles which shall be stored on an Ubuntu 8.04 Xeon (64 bit) box. I'm running the stock Ubuntu packages (version 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.4). The Ubuntu box runs as PDC with a LDAP backend. Adding a Win 2000 SP4 workstation to the domain works flawlessly. If I log on on the workstation with a root-like account (UNIX user id 0, UNIX
