Wine 1.2 on Mac Leopard, Civ4 startup error "Failed Initiating Python"
Hi all, I'm hoping that someone has seen this one before. I am trying to get Civ4 working in Wine 1.2 on my Mac and I get so far as the stage where it initializes Python and it fails. I've attached the log at the end of this transmission. It's relatively short as these things go. I can see at least one error: 'import site' failed; use -v for traceback but I have no clue as to

Firefox 3 Darwine Errors
Just completed a fresh install of Darwine 1.0b and Xquartz to fix some application issues and discovered when I downloaded and installed the Windows version of Firefox I get the following series of errors. This is a partial log since the errors just continue as long as Firefox is open until either WineHelper crashes or Firefox crashes. I have manually downloaded Flash from the adobe site, it

Using glitz directly vs using XRender
Hi, In the past I've found that using the glitz backend to Cairo with Xorg made some simple animation tests I wrote go much faster. I haven't yet tried them with Xgl but I was wondering which backend is theoretically 'best' in this configuration? My understanding is that Xgl feeds everything drawn to the screen via OpenGL - a bit like Quartz 2D Extreme will when Apple get it

Xrender and OpenGL troubles in Darwine
Hey all, I'm very new to Wine, but I was very excited about the potential behind it, so I tried installing the 2.2.3 X11 XQuartz package from http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/Releases and kronenberg.org/darwine 's stable 1.0 version of Darwine on my Macbook that is running Leopard 10.5.3. The installs were easy, but I'm having some difficulty now with actually getting some

So, I am having a problem running this game I installed in the virtual drive created by Wine. I am new to running anything through wine. My current OS is Ubuntu 10.04 and the version of Wine that I am using is 1.1.43. The game seems to crash before I can even open it. This is the information I have so far: fixme:reg:GetNativeSystemInfo (0x33fe40) using GetSystemInfo()

Diff WineHQ CodeWeavers
What is the difference between the offerings of WineHQ and CodeWeavers? I thought the two collaborate. I'm building on Mac Intel. If I basically follow http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost.php?p=1453321&postcount=7 I get good results (seeing proper icons and it appears to function). If I try the same with 0.9.40 and 0.9.42, the icons are missing although it appears to function. I

Modo 302
Hi, trying out Modo302 with Wine 1.0 through Ubuntu 8.04, had some success so far and appears to be working nearly fully accept for two problems we seem to be having. The first is minor, and only appears to effect drop down menu where the entrys are unselectable, which was suggested maybe a Wine focus bug? We can work round this to some degree within Modo by modifying the layout. But the second

Start a mac program from wine
Hi, I have a windows-based program that runs in wine & opens my native Mac-based Google Chrome browser when it opens a html document. Is it possible to do the same for another type of file, e.g., an mp3 file? What would I need to do to be able to do this? Thanks and regards, Anna.

Use raw-format drives
Hi, I am currently using a Windows program, that is trying to read a raw-format drive through USB. I've tried making a symbolic link to the device from my dosdevices directory ln -s /dev/disk3 x: but the program still doesn't recognise it. This program currently works on winxp. Is there any way to read such a drive through wine? Thanks, Anna.
