delete/archive old mail
Hi everybody, I store user's mail in the old mbox format. I have many scripts to manage users that works fine with mbox. I use the very old Expire_mail.pl script to delete mail older than NN days for selected users (nightly cron job). Still works fine with my CentOS dovecot-2.0.16. Now I want move the mail to a sort of archive folder instead of simply deleting it from the inbox for some

1.1.6: PAM passdb/userdb (mis)configuration
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious :-( Dovecot version 1.1.6, pam authentication via ldap (openldap). basicly, we use: passdb pam userdb passwd which work fine, except for Outlook/OL Express users that are asked for their password whenever they "send/receive"... We've had also "passdb shadow" that somehow "fixed" this but allowed also users with

Newbie: unable to access mailbox more than once
Hello, I'm using dovecot as a mail relay so that I can back up my providers IMAP mail locally. I'm impressed how easy this was to set up, but I'm having a quirk that I would like help with, if possible. There are many weak links in my set-up chain, if you will, but I think I've narrowed the problem. I'll describe my set-up anyway. I'm running dovecot 1.1.4 on ubuntu

Mails don't get deleted after POP3
Hi, there! Well, I am new to dovecot, so please be patient with me: I have a virtual server and want to setup simple mail delivery. postfix, saslauthd and dovecot basically work fine. The only open issue is, that (I guess) dovecot doesn't remove the mail when it's retrieved via pop3 from the server. It keeps sending me the same emails again and again. (The mail client (Thunderbird) is

sieve addflag has stopped working
Dovecot 1.2.10 in Debian, using Dovecot sieve. I have a sieve script, generated by Ingo, that's supposed to mark spam messages as "Seen" and file them into the Junk folder. In part it reads: require ["regex", "body", "imapflags", "fileinto"]; if exists "X-Spam-Flag" { addflag "\\Seen"; fileinto

fts_solr on debian lenny dovecot 1.2.15
Hello, I cannot run FTS SOLR engine. OS is debian lenny. I re-compiled debian package (from backports) with --with-solr option. Dovecot loads fts_solr plugin. I know that it loads plugin because if I remove lib21_fts_solr_plugin.so, dovecot does not start. But it does not attempt to communicate with SOLR. Simple check: stop solr tomcat, and open 8080 port in netcat: $nc -l -p 8080 dovecot

locking question
There are three applications that have their mitts on files on my mail server, which is running AIXV5.3 and UWIMAP and mbox format. The mail folders and INBOXES are native to that machine, but also are NFS exported to a login server and a mailing list server. All three machines are running the lockd daemon. Everybody wants to lock differently 1) procmail (delivering for sendmail), which

Using ldap and pam
Having some issues with ldap logins. I am using Centos 5,dovecot-1.0.13-1.el5.rfx and openldap-servers-2.3.43-25.el5_8.1 Trying to get this to work with the SoGo interface. First I converted all my standard system users to ldap using the openldap-tools. This worked fine, however when a user changes there password they can no longer see there email. If they change it back to the original password

locking questions
I have Dovecot 1.0 in trial use by the IT staff, and have some locking questions Background, the mail server runs procmail, sendmail and NFS exports the user homedir and mailbox to a) a login shell host and b) a mailing list services host. It runs UWIMAP on the usual ports and dovecot on a arbitrary port number. Because of concern with NFS and file access contention. I have the following

We run in this problems: 1) Sync of imap folder is really slow(I think it is Outlook problem) 2) Time after time we got Sync error from outlook 3) Time

Sharing all mailboxes and userdb LDAP attrs
Hello all, I'm setting up a Dovecot environment here, version 1.2.15 on Debian 6.0.2 "squeeze". This is actually a complete revamp of the previous setup we have in-place here, built from the ground up with updated versions of all involved software. The operators have told me that they use some scripts hacked up by a previous sysadmin to give a single "admin" account full

constant mailbox rebuilding with dovecot 1.0.10
I've recently upgraded to 1.0.10 in hopes that this problem would go away but no luck. I've got some users at my company with large inboxes on maildir (say 22,000 messages). Their mailboxes are hosted on nfs and dovecot is configured to do dotlocking. Still I see messages like this continually in the logs (sometimes every hour or so): server dovecot: IMAP(user): dotlock

Duplicates when switching from Qpopper to Dovecot pop3
Hi All, Our test users re-download the mail they've left on the server when they switch from Qpopper to Dovecot. Qpopper includes the X-UIDL header - X-UIDL: X8V"!E)<"!58?"!"9C"! - on read messages. Any suggestions are appreciated. I've included my dovecot configuration. Thank you, Tristan --- Tristan Tristan Goguen CEO, ILAP? T: 416-250-5600 ext. 205 F:
