Documentation for "altpath" / "altmove" / ?"Alternate storage"
I was thinking about documentation for alternate storage. We have a few mentions at: http://wiki2.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Tools/Doveadm http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Tools/Doveadm/Altmove But I was thinking it would be helpful if there could be a page about alternate storage. I could write the page, but I currently have so many unknowns that I think it would be

Kerberos5 / Heimdal
I have FreeBSD-6.1 and it appears the default installation has a full complement of Kerberos5. But, /usr/src/kerberos5/README states: This subtree is world-exportable, as it does not contain any cryptographic code. At the time of writing, it did not even contain source code, only Makefiles and headers. Please maintain this "exportable" status quo. Thanks!

Integrating Dovecot with Amazon Web Services
I did some searching in the mail archives and didn't see any discussion of integration with AWS, so I wanted to through out my thoughts/plans and see if it has been done before. I am setting up my own personal website on EC2 along with an email server, and I really don't like the idea of using the disk drive as permanent mail storage. EBS is too small instance storage is ephermeral.

make buildworld ignoring NO_MAILWRAPPER=true
For the last few system builds, I've noticed that the variable in /etc/make.conf NO_MAILWRAPPER=true is being ignored, resulting in my sendmail (different than stock version) being overwritten. This applies to 4.8-STABLE; is this a known issue.

Multi-dbox storage space
Hi, I originally picked mdbox because I had the impression from reading about it on the mailing list that it was more performant and that it would conserve disc space. But lately i found mailboxes have nearly double the storage as reported. I mean, IMAP QUOTA reports around 900MB for one account that has over 2GB when I inspect the mail location of the user using the linux command `du`

stupid migration from maildir+ to dbox
Hello. I'm install latest dovecot 1.2 from hg repo. I have many messages in maildir+ format. I migrate some folders to dbxo format using instructions from http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/dbox. But in two folders i'm delete index.cache and index.log files, this is my mistake. Is that possible to recover this files (regenerate) or use my messages from maildir with dbox? Thank You for

Weird error when using VI on FreeBSD-4.x
I'm getting this error from time-to-time when using VI under FreeBSD_4.9-prerelease: Error: input: Resource temporarily unavailable Basically, VI just exits/crashes (no core dump). The load average is pretty low: 4:18PM up 10 days, 23:42, 4 users, load averages: 0.13, 0.21, 0.21 And I don't seem to have any other problems with the system. Wondering what this might be, or if

[LLVMdev] moving to svn?
Hi Chris, > 2. The main deficiencies of CVS don't impact us much (we aren't > hampered by lack of atomic commits, renames, and better branch > facilities). If people would like to see the logical `patch set' that made up a CVS commit then cvsps may be useful, or, as others have said, use Tailor to convert to a local repos. in your preferred format.

touble with install
I did ./configure make make install I got no errors, but it doesn't seem to have installed everything I need. Swat won't start. It didn't put an smb.conf file in /etc/samba (it didn't even create this folder) or /usr/local/samba/lib/. When I run testparm, I get Segmentation fault as my only output. Even if I create an smb.conf and run testparm on that file I get the exact

Using tags instead of folders?
Hi, currently most people store their messages in some sort of folder hierarchy, so that they can find them later easily. Here, for example, mails that are connected to a project are being stored in /CompanyName/ProjectNumber folders. Now I was wondering if there is any reason against using tags instead of a folder hierarchy, because tags are better when it comes to mails that belong to

Syntax to specify sdbox: mail_location path?
I'm implementing sdbox. In conf.d/10-mail.conf, with "maildir:" mail_location = maildir:/my_mailbox_path/%d/%n mail gets stored in /my_mailbox_path/%d/%n/new/ With "sdbox:" mail_location = sdbox:/my_mailbox_path/%d/%n mail gets stored in /my_mailbox_path/%d/%n/mailboxes/INBOX/dbox-Mails. How do I get rid of the '/mailboxes/' and '/dbox-Mails/' path

Sticky bit problem
Hi We are building a Linux app under Centos 5.3, using gnu make 3.81 and gcc 4.12. The working directory is on a remote machine and is either a Samba share or a Windows 7 share. We find that in the case of a Windows 7 share the resulting executable has the sticky bit set in group: On Windows 7 share: -rwxrwSrwx 1 <snip> myapp On Samba share: -rwxrwx--x+ 1 <snip> myapp The

Recovering expunged but not purged e-mails from mdbox with zlib compression
Yesterday I had to recover an e-mail which a user had deleted. If I understand this correctly the message was expunged but not purged (doveadm purge had not been run). This e-mail was clearly still in the mdbox stored with zlib compression as I could tell using the doveadm dump command (doveadm dump -t dbox filename). I could however not reveal the e-mail with the normal doveadm fetch -u

Dbox and Exim
The Dovecot wiki [1] doesn't list either Exim, Postfix or anything else as supporting the dbox. I did some searching in the Exim archives and have found only one message mentioning dbox, sdbox or mdbox. [2] I think an RFC would go a long way towards getting the format supported. Has Timo, or anyone else, considered submitting an RFC to the IETF? My question was how are we going to use it
