OS = RHEL 5 samba version 3.4.15 OpenLdap 2.3.43 Hi I am struggling with this problem at the very end of deploying a samba/ldap solution (currently not doing an domain stuff) . It all seems to working except that when I modify a user by adding the user to a new group (unix group) this change is not reflected in samba shares. the opposite is also true. for example the directory listing is

build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! affecting samba group mapping?
Hi, when using pdbedit -L <user> we get an error > build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! username <user> with uid <uid> is not in unix passwd database! > Username not found! This is because a user is not - as it says - in e.g. /etc/passwd. Does this affect the functionality of group mappings in the way that this doesn't work with the mapped unixgroup

smbpasswd or tdbsam? Which one?
All, I have a site with around 200 concurrent users, with a user count of over a thousand... I'm currently using just one PDC using the smbpasswd backend. I currently do not want to go into an LDAP backend... but would tdbsam be a better alternative? One of the issues I have is, pretty randomly, I have some machines that cannot find the domain controller (dell wireless card utility tells you

nis password file -> smbpasswd?
ive got several hundred user accounts in NIS that i need to get into the smbpasswd file. since samba doesn't actually use NIS, but can only be in sync with it, what is the best way to get all these passwords into smbpaswd? I'd hate to have to have all users re-enter their passwords... anyone done this before? thanks in advance, alex ---

smbpasswd database is corrupt!
I added myself into OpenLDAP and deleted my user account from /etc/passwd. Now samba complains in the log file: Jan 25 10:17:56 roark smbd[2767]: build_sam_account: smbpasswd database is corrupt! username awilliam with uid 511 is not in unix passwd database! however, I'm resolving my awilliam with nss_ldap, so I can ssh and su -l awilliam fine. so shouldn't samba be able to get

Re: samba 3.0.23a Cannot join network
I had the same problem after upgrading to 3.0.23a. I have one samba PDC running a basic setup back to the smbpasswd file, and one that runs OpenLDAP. The former did exactly as yours, and I ended up rolling back to version 3.0.23. On the latter, the smb process refused to run, reporting that it could not contact the database. I ended up having to remove all the database files and reinstall

timeout after inactivity on mount.cifs
Hi Ivan, Not sure if you have found a solution or not since your post was back in February, but I thought I'd reply as this is the only thread I could find anywhere that mentions a problem that I was having on a recent installation of Arch Linux. A few minutes after boot all of my CIFS/Samba mounts would go offline and I'd get an error "The host is down." But I could unmount

User Migration question
Hello, I would like to migrate my user-accounts from a Samba 2 to a Samba 3 setup. Old Setup: Samba 2 with PAM support. PAM uses LDAP to store PosixAccounts New Setup: Samba 3 with "native" LDAP. PosixAccounts are already migrated to my new LDAP server. I tried pdbedit with my old smbpasswd file: ---snip--- # pdbedit -i smbpasswd:./smbpasswd build_sam_account: smbpasswd database

One way dsync replication with dsync -R
So, even with a particular user only connecting to one node in the pair, you still see the issue? I'm not seeing that in my setup. I only see it when concurrently connecting the same user to two different nodes in the pair. [RFC] Value Range Based Optimization Opportunity in LLVM
Hi All, We have recently found some optimization opportunities created by replicating code into branches in order to enable optimization. In general, the optimization opportunity we are pursuing is like the following. Given pseudo-code: // block A if (some condition) // block B // block C If it can be efficiently proven that some portion of block C can be simplified had control flow not
