RE : S3+CUPS+PDF pseudo printer : print command not functional on service
Thanks for your answer. So for my PDF printer, I switched back to BSD printing (calling cups-lpd), and keeped the local (to PDF printer) print command definition. It works now. I still had to add to cups (which automatically generates the /etc/printcap file) a fake printer with the name of the pdf printer (to avoid the loss of the manual addendum to /etc/printcap for the pdf printer). Samba PDF printer...
Hello Using Samba 2.2.8a on a Redhat 7.2 box I set up a PDF generator relying on Samba and a shell script to create the output. This works fine but I have a further trouble that I am stumped by. The files cannot be viewed from within a Citrix session (the point of the entire exercise) unless they are available from this one NT Server share. So if I mount a Windows NT server share under

need help setting up a printer
I'm trying to setup a print share with samba-2.2.4 that 9x and 2k clients should be able to print to. Below is my current setup listing only printer related options. My first concern right now is that I have cups running with the pdfdistiller script to format print jobs into pdf documents. I'm not using a real printer for this. I need samba to display the cups printer called PDF_Printer so

PDF printing with printing = CUPS
Hi everyone. I've been looking into the subject of "printing" to PDF with Samba in the last couple of days. Sorry to say that I wasted some time trying to figure out why the [print-pdf generator] in smb.conf didn't work. As always reading every comment carefully will pay off in terms of time wasted! After I realized that with printing = cups in smb.conf samba ignores any

logging print jobs
RedHat7.3, kernel2.4.18-17.7.x, samba 2.2.6-1 from samba.org binary download. I have been given the task of logging everything which is printed on my samba server. I thought I would test this out on a pdf printer I'm using with samba. I enter the following line for the print command. %u has printed %s from %m to %p at %T >> /tmp/smbprintlog && /usr/bin/printpdf %s The

Printing Problem with NT and Samba
Hi, My network has samba 2.2.2 installed on Sun with lprng and NT 4.0 workstations. Samba acts as PDC for these workstations. I am using priting through samba. I am using 'disable spoolss = yes' option which means the drivers are on installed on client side and are not downloaded from the server. So all these printers (on Samba) act as Local printers on NT machines. As I am

IP address change fouls things up.
Good morning, i recently had to change the IP address of my RH7.3 samba file server. The config is pretty much standard and had been working for about a year. Once i changed the IP address, i started getting the message "the domain password you supplied is not correct, or access to your logon server has been denied". Changing my IP address back resolves the issue. Also, adding a

You might want to look into ifhp/LPRng. It speaks to jet-direct printers. The whole combo of samba lprng and ifhp works well. weird printing with samba 2.2.4 problems under FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE
Hello. I have a simple samba 2.2.4 setup here under FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE: I want to share my printer through samba to other windows clients on my LAN. I already have this working perfectly under Linux on the same machine, however the freebsd port or package seem to not work. - the printer is correctly set up with LPRng (lpr <file> prints file correctly). However when I connect to the

Samba printing fails for Windows clients, was working, now fails...
Hi all The printing via Samba+Cups has stopped working. I'm using Mandrake 10.0 Official as a Samba server for file sharing and printing on a Windows network. Printing from a WindowsXP client to the Samba server now fails and I don't know why it has suddenly stopped, it used to work. File sharing still works okay. There are on no errors logged on the Linux Samba box, the Windows
