smbldap-tools updates (diffs)
Hi all, I have found the smbldap-tools provided in the samba 3 tarball to have a few glitches with the samba 3 schema. I have made my changes and 'diffed' them with the source. root@localhost # pwd /usr/local/samba/sbin root@localhost # for i in *.p*; do echo $i; diff $i /usr/local/src/samba-3.0.0rc4/examples/LDAP/smbldap-tools/$i; done smbldap-groupadd.pl smbldap-groupdel.pl

samba3 / ldap / idealx smbldap-tools / roaming profile
hi list, i am having problems with the smbldap-populate script from idealx. we are using samba3 server with openldap. we dont want roaming profiles for our users, so in smb.conf i set: logon path = logon drive = H #just for homedirs not for profile, we dont want roaming profileslogon home = in the configuration file for the smbldap-tools (smbldap_conf.pm) it says: # Just comment this if you

smbldap-tools 8.3 populate errors
I downloaded the new 8.3 (tgz format) ldap-tools from IDEALX today. When I run the smbldap-populate script I receive an error that it cannot find the smbldap_tools.pm file. This file was not included in the tar file. If I use the tools file from the samba 3.0.2pre1 distribution it is then expecting the old smbldap_conf.pm file which has now been split in favor of the /etc/smbldap-tools config. I

bulk adduser scripts for smbldap-tools
I'm looking for scripts to create bulk users on a Debian Etch/samba3/smbldap-tools0.9.2-3 pdc. I've been looking through the archives and all over google. To no avail. So far all I've found is a reference to a script that comes with smbldap-installer..which I cannot find either. Samba-3.0.2 PDC LDAP: Add computer to domain issue with smbldap-tools
Hi guys, I've installed openldap-2.1.25 and Samba-3.0.2 and configured everything with no TLS on a Slackware-9.1 Linux box. To manage the LDAP backed I've used smbldap-tools-0.8.4. After populating the database with smbldap-populate I was able to first add users to /etc/passwd etc. and then to LDAP with smbldap-useradd -a and access the server via Windows PCs. Everything appeared to be

Slightly OT: smbldap-tools/perl problem

I tried uninstalling perl-Convert-ASN1 and reinstalling, but it didn't help. smbldap-populate -a root -k 0 -m 0 Populating LDAP directory for domain TESTDOM

Problem about samba3 on freebsd, with smbldap-tools [solved]
Hi I have figured out what went wrong. I have previously complied samba without ldap support. There are tdb files in /var/db/samba. I have just uninstall samba and remove all tdb files (this instruction was given when run make deinstall in the samba3 ports, but I didn't follow it before). I did a fresh recompile with ldap support and now the problem is gone. Thanks Patrick --- Patrick

smbldap-tools and phpldapadmin
All, I suspect this is OT, or a solution may have been posted. Either way, I beg your indulgence. While I've used Samba for quite a few years, I recently took a stab at using it in an organization I volunteer at to create a PDC, in conjunction with openldap. The good news is it works, for the most part, after some set-up struggles. I have a couple of remaining issues, but let me take them

smbldap-tools broken pipe
Hi, I am working on establishing a Samba+LDAP server with management by the smbldap tools from idealx. Versions are Samba 3.0.14a, OpenLDAP 2.2.24, smbldap tools 0.8.8 all on Solaris 8. I'm thinking I have a problem with my perl (perhaps), version 5.8.5, as I keep getting "Broken pipe" messages when using smbldap-populate, smbldap-groupadd, etc. Google produced no useful

smbldap-tool scripts not executing
I'm running a samba pdc+ldap and am having issue with a windows 7 client. Checking the logs, I see nothing about smbldap-useradd. If I manually run smbldap-useradd -w hostname$, I'm able to add the client to the domain, but then run into the trust issue preventing anyone from logging in. The PDC was running Samba 3.6 from Sernet, but downgraded to 3.5 as part of CentOS 6. As a test, I put

smbldap-tools question
When I used smbldap-populate way back when I set up my LDAP server, I got two sambaDomainName objects in my LDAP tree -- one for the domain name (CORP) and one for the PDC Netbios name (CORPSRV). My Windows XP systems complain that they can't find the PDC for the domain CORPSRV. I am wondering if I even need the second sambaDomainName in LDAP at all. Any ideas? Misty

structuralObjectClass and smbldap-tools
Sorry, if this has been dealt with before, but I couldn't find it. I tried installing openldap 2.2 + samba 3. Currently I only have one install of openldap 2.0 and samba 2.2 running. Now, it all looks quite good, but the smbldap-tools do not add the necessary structuralobjectClass entries, so using the tools fails. I was able to manually change the first populate - which could be exported

givenname and email address with smbldap-tools
Hi all, I have setup samba / openldap as describes by the idealx howto and as such I am using the smbldap-tools. However, I would like to add the givenname and email address fields for all users. What is the best way to do this? I would prefer continuing to use the smbldap-tools, but I cannot seem to find a good way to do this. When I try to: $ smbldap-usermod -M testuser@testdomain.net
