Autofs and Fedora 11
Hi! I'm having trouble accessing Samba shares via autofs. Let me begin by saying that I can access the samba shares directly using smbclient without any trouble. For example: smbclient //Matsa/Pisi works fine. I first started out by copying a config line from an older system (redhat 7) that has in its auto.misc: (all on one line, of course) pisi

Samba share is not writeable
I am having difficulty with Windows shares mounted with smb on my linux machine. The mount directory will not have write permissions for anyone, no matter what. The mount directory that I use is /home/samba. It has 0700, or drwx------ permissions when it is not connected to Samba. It is owned by the user jhall, and the group root. When I mount it, if I use dmask 0777, I get dr-xr-xr-x. If I use

Roaming Profiles Refuse to Load on MS Windows Clients
I am unable to get roaming profiles to work correctly when using a Samba 3.0.1 server with Windows 2000 and XP Pro clients. The MS Windows clients will only load the default profile but will stubbornly refuse to load their profile from the Samba server, even though when the user logs off, their profile is correctly written to /home/samba/profiles/username. I have even tried the following

Unable to browse XP directory
I'm trying to access a share on an XP Home system, from SuSE 9.3, using Samba. When I use Konqueror to browse, I can't see anything under the shared directory (D:\), though I can see the contents of the "SharedDocs" folder. If I mount the XP share manually, I can then see all the files. Any idea, why Konqueror can't browse that directory? tnx jk

Machine trust account confusion
I have looked for an answer to this in many locations, but I am still confused about the use of machine trust accounts. It was my understanding, backed by a samba book, that in order for someone in a domain to access a resource, they must have a valid account on the domain AND be using a machine that has a trust account setup on the samba PDC. However, my experience and another samba book say

[samba-users] Network Pblm with "misty" (XP Home SP3 )
In short this is the problem. The XP Home machine called "misty" cannot see any other machines. It cannot see the Linux machines and it cannot see the XP Home machines or the XP Pro machine. In spite of this blindness it can map to all the XP machines and define so-called network places. But "misty" cannot map through the SAMBA protocal used by the Linux machines to make

Windows XP Machines (well mostly the XP ones) hanging
Hello Folks, I will personally send $50(AU) of Pizza to anyone that solves this one :) We have a network comprising approx 30 Windows workstations all logging in to a samba machine running as a PDC. The main exported file system is an NFS mounted file system, but this was happening back when this was an xfs file system as well. ACL's are enabled. We are running Samba Version 2.2.8a. The

WinXP client can't browse list for the domain it joined
Hi, I just configured a RH9 with Samba 3.0.2a as the PDC for XP clients network. The XP clients can join the domain. When I trying to browse the "Microsoft Windows Network" on the client XP machines, I can see all the old Workgroups and the list of XP machines in those workgroups, and I can see the new domain (ZEUS1) I just created with the PDC's name, which is "hermes",
