mongrel_cluster and Monit
On one of my development servers mongrel dies when idle for any length of time. Since I''ve not been able to solve that problem I thought I''d route around it by using monit to kick things when necessary. My monitrc contains the following... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- check process mongrel_8310 with pidfile

Mongrel Hangs After Idle Period
I had posted a thread couple of weeks ago whereby mongrel just mysteriously stops interacting with my application after an idle period...usually less than 8 hours. http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/mongrel-users/2007-February/002908.html I had hoped this would go away after a few upgrades but to know avail. Interestingly, the process does not die...it still accepts HTTP requests but does not

Rails Day 2006 -- 24 hour programming contest on July 17th
I just launched the website for Rails Day 2006, the second annual 24 hour Ruby on Rails development contest. Teams of one to three people have 24 hours to develop a Rails application from scratch. When the contest is over, entries are judged, and cool prizes are awarded. http://www.railsday2006.com/ Sponsoring Rails Day is a great way to promote your company to the geek demographic. If

Password Expirey
Is there anyway to expire password for windows clients with a Samba (in my case recent alpha version)? I found a post the TNG parameter "password expire time = 10" but a "strings smbd | grep expire" didn't turn in up in the binary. Anyone have any ideas if this is possble (I see it posted frequently to the archives, but no answers). Systems and Network Administrator

Reading characters using read.table()
Hello, I need to read a vector containing names of different variables from a text file (a unique column). Among them one is called "T". When I use the function read.table with default arguments and when I call the element of the data frame corresponding to name of this variable it returns me the logical value "TRUE" whereas I was expected it to return the character

Building a function
Hello, Is it possible to build a function, a posteriori, by getting the names of the arguments and the formula in a list or a vector ? When I use the function as.function(), I don't know how to define explicitly the names of my variables as formal arguments. Dendrogram labels
Is there any way to change the orientation of the labels on the end of the dendrograms to horizontal rather than vertical? AT&T T1 Cable Needed!
Hi, I just got a T1 interface for a AT&T (became Lucent) System75 (uses same cards as Definity). I would take a crack at making a cable but can't determine the pinout for a cable and it is not apparent from the board. Asking you guys makes sense as one of you may have one of these systems. The cable has a amphenol male D50 connector on one end and probably a rj45 on the other. I also

FAX over IAX
Hi, We are looking at consolidating our lines with PRI. This will allow the elimination of many fax lines. Some of them will be replaced with this type of config ... PRI * IAX * Channel-Bank FAX We will have daggressor suppressor enabled. Is anyone doing this and should I expect smooth operation? I have not had to update my machine that is connected to pstn for a while & I don't want to jump into echotraining without a way to quickly enable what has

Coxph and ordered factors
Dear useRs, I am trying to fit a Cox PH model on survival data from a lung cancer dataset. I would like to include the patient staging (I-IV) as a covariate. For this I use the following function: coxph(Surv(time,status) ~ stage) The staging information is a categorical variable, and it is important to take the ordering into account (I<II<III<IV). Does the coxph function handle

[LLVMdev] Adding xadd instruction to X86
Hi, I'm trying to add the xadd instruction to the X86 back end. xadd r/m32, r32 exchanges r/m32 and r32, and loads the sum into r/m32. I'm interested in the case where the destination operand is a memory location. I've added the following entry to X86InstrInfo.td: def XADD32mr : I<0x87, MRMDestMem, (ops i32mem:$src1, R32:$src2), "xadd{l}
