printer "Advanced tab" grayed
Hello, I would like to upload windows printer driver to my Samba through the printer "Advanced tab" as described in that doc http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#id2582657 but this tab is totally grayed. I can imagine it's a permission issue but I'm not sure at all. Any idea, Frederic

Re: cifs verses smbfs for Linux clients -time stamp issue
After mounting a windows share via cifs I have came across the same issue as described here: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2006-April/119813.html "While using vim on files mounted under CIFS, when trying to write an existing file you will randomly be warned "The file has been changed since reading it!!!". Problems running samba in vmware
I have used samba for nearly 9 years with no problems and we have about 20 users. In the past we have had a dedicated samba server. We have recently virtualized this server to a quad core Q6600 using vmware virtual server 1.0.4 on a 64 bit host running ubuntu 7.10. As part of the virtualization I installed samba 3.0.26a in ubuntu 7.10. Since this has happened users have complained about

Nobody who can help use with this issue? Hi, I have Centos 5.5 64b with Sernet samba 3.5.6-43.el5 packages. It is configured as domain member server, providing file and printer services. printer drivers - Add Printer Wizard disabled
I'm following along in the guide, trying to make printer drivers available from Samba. But when I right-click on a printer in Windows XP and select the "properties" tab, it's disabled: http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=BMeeHijW2w%2FyTvDsjpQbEQ%3D%3D So how do I enable this so the client can upload the drivers? So far I have tried: * Add the name of the user as "printer

R conditional matrix operations - advanced condition
Hello List! I stumbled across an efficiency problem - calculation that would be probably done very fast as a matrix operation I must perform as a for-loop. My intention was to do a conditional operation in matrix depending on the information in first column (summing as many data points from vector my_data as the number specified in the first column of the matrix) but the result is that the

forcing XP clients to use CIFS
Hi Guys! Anyone know how can I do this trick? I guess there is a registry value for it. As I noticed winxp try to use smbfs first not cifs. In linux it's easier because you can choose when you mount your shares. Regards, Jax
