samba-3.5.2 - "getent group" not returning any info
Hello there
I just installed 3.5.2 and encountered the following. Compile worked all
right but "getent group" would not give back any results, though "getent
passwd" did list those AD users. The server runs as AD member and
winbind seems to work normally. "wbinfo -u" and "wbinfo -g" return the
desired info just "getent group" sucks.
It works

sudo issues after upgrading to samba/winbind 4.0.13 on Debian Wheezy
Hi
I have upgraded from samba 3.6.19 to samba 4.0.13 on Debian Wheezy
64-bit with Samba 4.0.13 from wheezy-backports. I use winbind to
authenticate against a two-server AD domain on Server 2012 functional
level and forced LDAPS.
After upgrading from 3.6.19 to 4.0.13 everything still works for me as
usual. That is samba shares authentication, all things relying on the
keytab, SSO logins with SSH

wbindo slow
good morning everyone.
I apologize if it is recurrent. But not yet found a solution.
I have a problem of slowness when running "wbinfo -u" command. Analyzing
the outputs of "strace" command, I noticed some timeout.
After several searches, I found information that indicated remove dead
domains. I do not have these domains. I performed a fresh installation.
My scenario is a

35 second wait when cache expired
Hello,
I've got an issue with RHEL6 running smbd & winbindd version
3.6.9-168.el6_5. This is authenticating against a Windows 2008R2 domain
using the rid backend.
If I run any command that has to look up user info I get a 35 second delay,
after this initial delay it's fine until the cache time-out, then it
happens again.
This is making logins and most commands hang for 35 seconds

file_mode and dir_mode options ignored
Hi there. I'm using samba3x-3.5.4-0.83.el5_7.2 on CentOS release 5.7 x86_64 to mount a Terastation filesystem. The "file_mode" and "dir_mode" options to mount.cifs seem to be ignored; I systematically get a "drwxrwxrwx" permission, no matter what values I provide for these options:
# mount.cifs //terastation/Backup /bkp/BackupPC/ -o

wbinfo's timeout to lookup sid
Hello list,
when using "wbinfo -S <sid>" at one point it uses three times a timeout
of 5 seconds.
where is that configured, how can I increase it? Here are the details:
we are using version 3.0.22 under Linux. winbind uses an ldap backend
to store
the idmap. There are about 20000 user and group account. Sometimes
the timeout of 5 seconds is too short.

dovecot 2.0 vs. SELinux
Hi,
we were modifying old SELinux rules for dovecot 2.0. Everything seems ok, only
one report seems odd:
"SELinux is preventing /usr/sbin/dovecot "write" access on dovecot.conf."
Looking at strace output, dovecot tries to use socket on
/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf which is regular file and no socket:

Annoying Winbind Pause While Looking Up Permissions
Our linux SLES10 fileserver is running Samba (3.0.28) and is a domain
member in a Win2003 AD. Everything has been working fine for several
months with the exception of an annoying pause that occurs while
browsing shares. The pause will last 30 seconds and occurs roughly once
every 5-10 minutes. The pause is universal, meaning, that all Windows
clients trying to browse or access files will see this

Hi,
here is an example of tftpd-hpa running in daemon mode failing to
reopen /dev/log. No wonder, as it tries after chrooting.
Cheers,

AW: getent not working (again)
I don't think that this is my problem. When I try 'getent passwd <user>' I
get no output either. And we only store about 200 users. Is bug 3024 fixed
in the newest version? I will try to apply the patch.

getent not working (again)
Hi all,
after I searched the internet about a week now I can't find an answer to my
problem:
The company I work for is using a Windows 2003 Domain using the Windows
Services for UNIX (SFU) and NIS. We are using two Domain Controllers that
are hosting the ADS.
Now I want to use Samba and NFS to implement a file server for our mixed
client enviroment: There will be Linux, HP UNIX, Solaris,

CentOS won't shutdown ... or do anything else
I started to have problems similar to ones described in the past on
this list but could not find any kind of resolution. I did an
lsmod, a mount command, and for fun, did an strace on shutdown to
see where it is hanging, and an ltrace as well.
Any thoughts?
