Winbind not working on Ubuntu 18.04 Samba 4.8.0 File Sever
Good Morning, Ive been trying to test Samba AD on Ubuntu 18.04 using
samba version 4.8.0 The DC seems to be working fine all tests have
passed. I was able to connect Win7 RSAT, a Ubuntu workstation and a
File server. My problem is the file server will not give response to
'sudo getent passwd' with or with out username or DOMAIN\username.
Everything else works as far as I can tell.

Showstopper problem: Winbindd no longer starting
Hi,
I'm running a samba CTDB setup using default Centos 7.2 repos, fully
up-to-date. This is in pre-production so this is quite a nasty problem.
Everything was running fine, including after a package update 1-2 days
ago. However, this morning I can't get winbind started, CTDB times it
out. I've taken the clustering=yes line out of smb.conf, and run winbind
at dedug level from the

emptying /var/lib/samba caused issues with joining: no secrets.tdb

ADS domain member: winbind fails
I am trying to set up winbind on a ADS domain member server.
The join works OK, but winbind simply fails to start.
see config and logs below, I am scratching my head.
Why does it "contact" a domain called "MAIN" ? that is the hostname of
that server, not the domain name!
would be nice to get a quick reply, I am at the customer and this should
work asap ....
Thanks!

Winbind error "Could not fetch our SID - did we join?"
We did, in fact, join mere seconds ago, but for some reason, winbind
still can't find itself. ADUC etc meanwhile have no trouble finding the
newly added computer account.
Wiping /var/{lib,cache}/samba/ (and the computer account) makes no
difference, the error persists.
How do I proceed?

Winbindd runs interactively, fails as a daemon
Hi,
I have server which is joined to an AD DC but I am having problems
starting or keeping winbind running. If I reboot the server, it fails to
start. If I then start it with "winbindd -i" it runs. I can then
terminate it and run it as a service and it works for a while. At some
indeterminate point in the future it may fail again.
When trying to start it initially (before a winbindd
