Unable to mount SMB shares under Mac OS 10.6.5
Help - (I'm new to the list, so please be gentle) I've tried Seagate support, and Apple Forums with no resolution or adequate suggestions for troubleshooting/resolving this issue, so I thought I'd try the samba community. It's a bit esoteric for me/most Mac users (SMB shares under Max OS X), but I thought I'd give it a try. I can no longer mount any shares from my Seagate

SMBD Crash
Our software utilizes an OS X Server (Snow Leopard 10.6.8) for file read and writes. We gather files out of many directories, process them, and then write files back to the server. We had a long time end user who utilizes our software with an XP box upgrade from XP to Windows 7. Now with Windows 7 the SMBD is crashing routinely under heavy loads. Whatever information it was working

Connection closing with close_cnum(1284)
Greetings I am running SMB on OS X Server 10.5.6, it's not clear what version of SMB they use. I have a Windows XP box that mounts a network drive on the server. RE: Bug 1315 -- wrong schannel auth len 24 -- am I having same problem on my Mac?
Can someone verify that I am having the same problem with Mac OS X Panther (10.3.3) using Samba 3.0.2 based on my log below? I get this trying to connect from my WinXP machine to my Mac which is configured with ADS. If so, can you point me to a set of instructions on upgrading from 3.0.2 to 3.0.4 with this patch? I don't have control over the server I authenticate with...it is about 300

Strange changes to a Word document
Dear Andrew Tridgell A strange thing happened last night. I was working on a Word document. I scrolled up to the top of the document, and the first section had been replaced by the following text, all formatted exactly as I had set it: Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the Samba Team 1992-2004 [2005/02/21 23:50:25, 0] /SourceCache/samba/samba-59/samba/source/smbd/server.c:main(757) smbd version

Samba not seeing any interfaces
I've built samba for an embedded mips platform. Since this is an embedded platform, it's possible that some critical file that samba needs is missing but stracing the daemons doesn't reveal anything strange. It's running 2.4.34 kernel. Samba is failing to find any interfaces. [2000/01/02 10:55:01, 3] nmbd/nmbd.c:main(759) Opening sockets 137 [2000/01/02 10:55:01, 10]

OS X Hang Issue
Hello List, I have a bit of a strange problem with an OS 10.3.3 XServe (Samba 3.0.2) that I've inherited from a previous sysadmin ;). It's a bit hard to describe but I'll do my best and include applicable log files and the smb.conf. Ok, first of all this machine is bound to our Active Directory domain and authenticates users there (security = ads). It uses the Windows 2000 DC

security = domain and Mac OS X
I've set up Samba on Mac OS X to do pass through authentication to the nt domain in AD several times now. No big deal, it usually just works. Now, however, it doesn't appear to be working. Note the relevant part of the transaction below (loglevel 4). Steps to replicate: a) Add pre-Win2K account with AD Users and computers b) sudo smbpasswd -j EXAMPLE -r WINSERVER -U

nmbd Hogging CPU on Mac OSX (10.5.4)
Hi All, Firstly, I know this is a MacOS X issue and not sure if you guys can help, but I'm really hoping you can since I don't appear to be getting any joy elsewhere. Running OSX 10.5.4 and recently (last week) nmbd is hogging the CPU. I know this is a part of the Samba server on OSX, hence the post to this mail-list. When I disconnect from the network, nmbd goes away and doesn't

INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 10 (Samba v. 3.0.10 in OS X 10.4.2)
My network consists of a Linksys WRT54GX wireless router connecting a Macintosh running OS X 10.4 (Samba version 3.0.10) and a Windows XP notebook. I can connect to the OS X shares wirelessly via the XP machine, but then one of two things happens: either the connection is immediately lost, the directory refreshes and I'm left staring at an empty folder. Or, what happens more

Problems adding Win clients to domain
I'm not able to add Win clients to my domain anymore. I receive an error on the PC (2000 or XP): "The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "[DOMAIN]": Logon failure: unknown user name or password." But I am able to log on to the server when accessing shares and printers. This error message only appears when joining the domain. And on the Mac OS X

INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 10 in pid 7448 (3.0.0rc2)
This morning I got two users come down to me saying their word doc was lost. Apparently they tried to save their docs to their home folder which is on samba share. XP had given an error along the lines 'Network connection to network drive is lost and word is unable to save the document' and then Word crashed. I went to smb logs and found this. samba and darwin/macos x
Does anyone on the list have any comments or suggestions about configuring samba to run with MacOS X/Darwin? I recently inherited a G4 Powerbook and am having a blast playing with it. My story is that after loading the Apple developer tools it builds and installs fine. I can start smbd, but nmbd fails to start and gives the following errors that don't mean anything to me: [2002/08/19
