samba_3_0+ldapsam: Bug?
Hi, after upgrading samba 3.0 from ~ Jan. 03 cvs -> today's cvs, samba crashes while contacting an LDAP server. If I try: $ smbclient -L localhost -Udariush%pass smbd logs the following: [2003/04/04 18:20:39, 2] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_search_one_user(648) ldapsam_search_one_user: searching for:[(&(uid=dariush)(objectclass=sambaAccount))] [2003/04/04 18:20:39, 10]

samba domain member can't validate users against 3.0 DC
Hello, I've a samba 3.0 (today's cvs) server running as a PDC. The Win2K/NT Clients can login without any visible problems, but samba 2.2.7a domain member can't validate users in security=domain mode. I've followed the howto in the docs and joyning the domain with 'smbpasswd -j BRGS -r ALDEBARAN -Uroot%pw' works just fine, the samba 3.0 DC even creates the machine$

user level access control with win9x and samba 2.2/3.0
Hello, I've set up a samba 3.0 (cvs 2002-12-27) domain with LDAP backend and about 800 users. I have some win95/98 clients and want to use user level access control. But if I try to fetch the list of users in the add-share dialog, windows says "You can not view the user list at this time. Please try again later." I've just checked this with samba 2.2.7a too and it didn't

samba_3_0+ldapsam_nua: creating machine trust accounts fails
Hi, with current SAMBA_3_0 I'm unable to create new Machine Trust Accounts with ldapsam_nua. A rough test indicates that ldapsam works. If I put 'rid' in samba.schema from MUST into MAY, samba creates an ldap entry, but with empty 'rid' and 'primaryGroupID' attributes. ciao Dariush # smbpasswd -D5 -a -m test2$ Netbios name list:-

Cannot copy file to Samba share
Hi, I have a very odd issue - I cannot copy a large-ish (1.1GB) ISO file to a Samba share on a specific server, and having spent a couple of days on the issue, I'm running out of things to try, and I'm hoping for some suggestions. The destination system is an old P4 system on a Via based motherboard (P4MA Pro). It has two IDE disks, a Maxtor 40GB on IDE channel 1 as the system disk,

a new model object associated with two parents
Please excuse me if I am asking too many questions. I''ve been appreciating the help (and I have been learning from reading other peoples questions and answers too) Here is a cooked up example of a basic idea I am trying to accomplish Say that I have a Pupil model . Perhaps also a Teacher, Course models. Teachers will have things called Course_Offerings. To keep track of a pupil’s

Samba ACLs and NFS ACLs:Differing results
I have two users on my network, Mary and Bob, who work together in a shared share. They both belong to the group Accounting. Bob is a savvy Linux user who accesses the share via NFS4. Mary toils away using Windows accessing the share via the Samba server. Mary will create a directory on the share and dump a number of files in which Bob and Mary will split the load. Bob, being a LInux user, will

net group question
I groupapped the domadmins group in linux to ntgroup="Domain Admins" but instead of mapping to the SID number ending in 512 it's creating a new SID number endind in 2025 mapped to domadmins... Does anybody knows why??? It worked in the previous server. This is the command I execute net groupmap add ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroup=domadmin If I use the rid=512 option I

Should I use exclamation marks for methods that change associations?
I''ve been getting some good feedback on the Authorization plugin (http://www.writertopia.com/developers/authorization). Josh Susser suggested I use exclamation marks when I''m setting roles. The basic ways of setting roles uses the #has_role, #has_no_role, #accepts_role, and #accepts_no_role methods: user.has_role ''site_admin'' user.has_role

Sage Accounts Performance Issues (Solved)
I've been struggling for several days with an issue to which I found a number of references, but few solutions, so wanted to put my experience "out there", in the hope that others may find it useful at some time. A client company network of 10 WinXP Pro PCs and CentOS 4 server (a Fujitsu RX300x2) running Samba was last week replaced with 10 Win7 Pro PCs and a CentOS5 server

Crear datos aleatorios con restriciones
Hola, 0.

Domain groups with spaces in their names
Hello Samba, I have a Samba file server which I have successfully joined to a domian controlled by a Windows 2003 domian controller. I cannot get the server to allow access to users who are members of a group with spaces in its name. The domain has three (main) groups: - students - teachers - spaced users My Samba.conf has the following shared directories defined: [teachers] comment =
