Disk free space, quotas and GPFS
I am migrating the main file servers at work onto a new storage platform based on GPFS. I am using RHEL 5.6 with the samba3x packages (aka 3.5.4) recompiled to get the vfs_gpfs and tsmsm modules, with a couple of extra patches to vfs_gpfs module to bring it 3.5.8 level. It is running with ctdb against Windows AD 2008 R2 domain controllers with all the idmapping been held in the AD. In order to

ACL madness
Hello list, I'm having a "fun" time trying to figure out my ACL problems. I've gone through the default ACL settings and the mask settings on the filesystem to ensure that the user I am using does indeed have access to the filesystem that is being shared out. My issue is that I am unable to overwrite a file that already exists with another file of the same name. I get the

DreamHost and "froo handler"
I just started using DreamHost, and http://rtest.openprofile.net is the first Rails site I put there. I read the information in their wiki about setup, since I hadn''t used Rails with Apache before, and dutifully added the recommended "froo handler" to dispatch.fcgi. Bad idea. I sprouted endless dispatch.fcgi processes, and had to kill off a handful every hour or two. I

GPFS, samba, robocopy and timestamps
Hi list, I'm trying to use robocopy to move some files over to a samba share backed by GPFS. I keep getting "ERROR 50 (0x00000032) Time-stamping destination file ... The network request is not supported." What is strange is that the files are still coped over, even though robocopy believes the copy failed, and in the smb log I don't have any errors or erroneous NT_STATS

samba,robocopy and gpfs problem
Hi all, I am trying to do a robocopy from a windows box going from a netapp to a samba box with a gpfs back end. When doing the robocopy it fails with error 282 which states " "The mounted file system does not support extended attributes". I have found that if you create the destination directory first then issue the robocopy that the copy goes without a hitch. The permissions

samba and gpfs
Hi all, I've got question (problem?) regarding samba exporting gpfs filesystem. My setup is very simple - gpfs client machine with gpfs filesystem mounted and samba server running on the top of it. I compiled samba with gpfs support, here is my smb.conf section: [homes] comment = Home Directories browseable = no writable = yes fileid:mapping = fsname use mmap = no

samba GPFS and HSM?
Hi - I was wondering if any of you may be able to point me in the right direction. I am in the process of designing a fairly large fileserver solution in an MS Active directory environment. I have setup and tested ctdb samba, however, after several discussions with a couple of my colleagues, i am now considering a more vanilla flavour of samba. The key features the solution requires are: •

Samba 3.0.28 with VFS-Module "GPFS"
Hi Rob, on your Info for Version 3.0.25 you pointed out the VFS-Module GPFS for using features of the underlaying GPFS-Filesystem. Also the man-pages-3/vfs_gpfs.8.html points to that module, but I can't find it anywhere. We are using a GPFS 3.2 3-Node Samba Cluster (3.0.24/28) on Dell HW. We would be very glad if it is posible to get - Quota Recognition for our users (we use "max

Samba 3.0.x, GPFS and NFSv4, ACLs and so on... ???
hi list, we have plans to implement GPFS in our heterogeneous environment (win, linux and mac clients; many linux servers) to scale better in file serving and improve availability. are there any recommendations regarding samba and GPFS and samba co-existing with NFSv4 (ACLs!) on GPFS on the same machine? or is this too experimental and we should either use samba or nfs in the cluster? i?ve read

Samba/GPFS/GlusterFS
Hello, sorry for this little OT post. In my company, we have 2 distant facilities, with people at each facility working on the same files. The 2 facilities are connected through MPLS with about 10MBytes/s BW. Saving the work files to servers located at one or the other facility has became a pain for the people accessing the files from the remote site. Trying to improve files

STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION when Read while Write on GPFS + CTDB
Hello! We indeed need debug level 10 logs of smbd. But I bet that you're running into an incompatibility between SMB and GPFS share modes. Those don't match 100%, so turning off gpfs:sharemodes might be worth a try. Of course, this means that you lose interop share modes. I'd be happy to analyze this further and assist you in making a proper GPFS query out of this if needed. With

ACLs in windows clients w/ GPFS
Hello list, I've got a ctdb cluster working against a GPFS cluster. I've got ACLs going and have set the default/active ACLs on my folders. The ACLs seem to be working fine, they are correctly limiting/allowing access to the said folders/files. My issue is that when using the windows client to view/change the ACLs everything goes south. When trying to view the ACLs via right clicking on
