mount cifs
Hi, I updated our servers to 4.2.11, and I have a problem, but I'm not sure if the problem is related to the update. I am trying to use mount.cifs: > mount -t cifs -o username=username,password=super_secret,domain=WRKGRP //ip.of.our.samba/share /mnt > mount error(112): Host is down > Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) Host is up, i can use smbclient to

Peculiar difference between two Samba servers
I have two Samba servers acting with Server role: ROLE_DOMAIN_MEMBER running Samba 3.2.5. Both have shares in their smb.conf, both are joined to Active Directory, and are using pam, nis, etc. so that users can authenticate against them (without having to re enter their passwords for each share) and see all permitted files. Clients are a mixture Macs running OS X 10.5 and Windows clients. Windows

win 10 login - Not enough storage is available to process this command
hi everyone I've had a Win 10 Pro client to a non-AD samba fine for a long time. Suddenly I could not logon new user(which had not logged in on that Win box before). I was lazy, I remember that quickest thing that worked once in the past was remove & re-add client, you know, in Windows itself, to the domain. Now I cannot login any user at all at that Win box(even though the box was

Samba 3.6.0.0 w/AD Support on AIX 6.1 - Error w/Authentication
Hello, I've installed the pware AIX 64bit version of Samba and support filesets but I am having an issue with authentication between the local server user and the equivalent AD user of our domain and it will not mount the respective Samba share on my Windows desktop. Here is how our environment is setup: # oslevel -s 6100-05-05-1112 root at livaixdssit01 [ /opt/pware64 ] # lslpp -L | grep

no logon server
I have an NT domain on Debian Stretch. It's been upgraded numerous times, but has been running for almost a decade. Since upgrading from 4.1.17 to 4.3.3 (huge Debian jump), then to 4.3.6, clients cannot connect to shares. Prior to upgrading, I found the changes mentioned for 4.2 regarding NT domains and applied them. Even so, I still cannot connect to network shares nor print to

no logon server
You may have included this in another email however I will ask anyway, did you set DNS to your server in the Linux and Windows clients? Can you check if a Windows Server can join? Can you use DNS management to check the DNS on you samba server? On Mar 28, 2016 2:15 PM, "Dale Schroeder" <dale at briannassaladdressing.com> wrote: > No takers thus far. These are the Samba 4.2

understanding an error message
I have a toshiba copy machine that is also used as a scanner. The scanner can be set to store files to a SMB UNC. So I create a username/password for the scanner to login with, then configured a unc path for to store to. All was working well for a while. Then the scanner stopped storing to the samba share. Initial analysis seemed to indicate that the username/password was failing. So I reset it

[Samba-it] samba 4.x: centos 7: Bad SMB2 signature for message
Try again and add : winbind refresh tickets = yes winbind offline logon = yes if that does not work, i really suggest you upgrade to samba 4.2+ or set the pc's to use a "lower" SMB prototol. I've had a call from a client yesterday who had issue with his copiers' scan2folder feature after badlock samba file server upgrade. Windows 7 client trying to authenticate with windows machine name
Hello there. I'm having an issue authenticating a Windows 7 (not in a domain) against a Samba 4.1.17 (debian Jessie). It appears that the client is trying to authenticate using with it's machine name and not the user filled in the auth form. I'm using security = user and I can confirm that the share is working with Win8. Could you check my conf & the error and share me your

Samba, Time Machine, and ADS
Dear all; I?m running smbd 4.9.5-Debian and I?m struggling to get Time Machine support to work. The server is running Debian Buster, and the client is macOS High Sierra. I can mount the share just fine on its own, but as soon as I tell Time Machine to ?Back Up Now?, it says ?Preparing Backup,? ?Looking for Backup Disk,? and then nothing. The little red exclamation mark tells me that "The
