source() or OS X Lion?
Dear R Gurus,
I'm seeing some strange behavior that I can't explain. I'm generating a figure for a paper and I like to save the script (no matter how simple) for future reference. My practice is to write the script and run it using the 'source()' function. What's weird is that the resultant figure is not readable by OS X 10.7.0 (Lion). While trying to figure out what I did

Working Compile on OS/X 10.7 (Lion)
I've been trying for sometime to get a working compile on Lion and have had little to no success in getting wine to work correctly. If I compiled wine on 10.6.x and then upgrade to Lion that will work, but a fresh new compile on Lion doesn't seem to work using X-Code 3.2.6 or X-Code 4.1.
So I ask the question... Has anyone got a fresh compile of wine to work on Lion and if so what

Password sync in 3.6.0 on OS X 10.7, Lion
My company, which is a mac-heavy shop in the printing industry, needed
to migrate to a faster file server. As our directory trees are very
large, both Samba, and Netatalk were bogging down badly on our Linux
server (Samba, due to heavy CPU usage during directory listings - the
case-sensitive file system issue, and netatalk because the cnid db was
getting too big).
Our solution was to switch to a

Apple Mac OS X Lion and Samba PDC
Apologies if this has been discussed before I've just gotten around to
joining.
Those who have an Apple Mac Dev account may already be aware that Apple
has withdrawn Samba from its next major OS release due out later this
Summer.
This leaves a certain segment of the market who used the PDC functionality
unable to upgrade or being forced on to Active Directory in order to
support Windows

Hello, all.
I have a two Mac mini 4.1 (mid 2010: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 4Gb RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 320M, Intel HDA)

another - Lion 10.7.2 (64-bit).
I have installed Wine 1.3.31 from MacPorts repository on both of them

Compiling 64-bit libFLAC/libFLAC++ on OS X Lion, anyone successful?
I have also asked this question on stackoverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8694676/compiling-64-bit-flac-libflac-in-os-x-lion), which you can answer if you're interested in reputation points.
I am very unfamiliar with compiling C/C++ source of this size, and I'm having trouble debugging the issue. Basically, in the root folder of the FLAC bundle, even if I use the flags

Mac Lion Server as slave
What is the best way to setup a Mac Lion Server as a slave? A Centos 6
server runs nut and controls the UPS. The yum epel install has a
nut-client package that has the minimum required to get monitoring working
(upsmon?)...I was wondering if there was some similar configuration for the
Mac?
Thanks,
Greg

mountain lion install, error message
Hi, I have been trying to install R on my mac which is running mountain lion. It is partially working, but one error message I am getting is:
Error in function () : object '.activeModel' not found.
I cannot find anything on this by googling. It appears, for example, when I try to 'add observation statistics to data' under the 'models' menu in R commander.

using windows vst plug-ins with logic 9 on mac osx lion
I have just discovered the existence of Wine as I was thinking of creating a Windows partition in order to process audio files using some of the great VST fx plugins (such as dblue glitch) that are only available on Windows. I could then import the files into Logic 9 on Mac OSX Lion for use in my music.
A Windows partition seemed the only solution until I stumbled across the Wine website: I tried

rspec and Lion?
Hey,
Has anyone used rspec and lion much yet?
I''m using the Fuubar instafail formatter, and finding that the entire
output of the spec run is buffered till the script execution stops, at
which point it''s displayed. Not sure why - it may be a failure/feature
of the new Terminal.app ?
Wondered if anyone had seen this?
thanks,
James

celtenc 0.11.1 not generating encoded file on OSX Lion
Hi,
I am running celt 0.11.1 on my mac which is running osx lion. I invoke
celt such as so:
celtenc original.wav output.oga
I do not see any files being encoded, the wave file is stereo 16 bit at
44.1kHz.
Any ideas on why this is not working? I also tried the opus git repo for
the latest sources, but that also does not produce an encoded file.
Thanks

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and no Samba
Since Apple killed off Samba in 10.7 and there is no way (I can find) to get Samba working correctly on there... what do we do with Wine parts that specifically need Samba?
I mainly ask over getting this error message.
Code:
err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind

[LLVMdev] Getting lld to compile on Mac OS X Lion
Hi,
What are the steps I have to follow to compile lld on a mac?
I've compiled and installed llvm+clang+libc++, but clang won't use the updated version that I installed in /usr/local/
If I just hack it and put the updated headers in lld's directory, it will compile it, so I suppose it's the libc++ that's bundled with Mac OS X that is too old.
The steps I took were:

Install Rails 4 correctly on OS X Mountain Lion
After reading several books and tutorials on Rails, I found it difficult
to get a step by step guide to set up Rails on OS X. Most of what I read
is just speeding through the steps and many of them don''t work as
expected for various reasons (no compiler installed, outdated version of
curl, etc). So I wrote a detailed step by step on my blog here:
