Can you give me some help?     The first question is what the relationship between samba versions(such as 3.x.x , 4.x.x) and samba3/samba4. What happend to the git repository? I did git clone git://git.samba.org/samba.git /samba4/samba. I got the repo. Changed to /samba4/samba/source4 tried ./autogen.sh File not found? Indeed no autogen.sh in source4 nor in the master-dir only in source3. And a file autogen-waf.sh. Confusion!!?? I do not want to compile samba3 I want samba4. In the past we had a little script which our users could run on their own from their linux account which created a samba user with their own uid/gid and set their password (via smbpasswd). Just thought I'd say that samba4 is working quite nicely. Samba4 DC on Ubuntu server. Added a W2k3R2 and W2k8R2 server as DC's. Took a little bit of play to get it done, but not much.
