winbindd problems
Hi,
I am having problems with winbindd on a BDC but I am not sure where
the problem lies.
If I run `winbindd -n -i` on the BDC and watch the output from pdbdeit
-Lv I see:
winbindd version 3.5.4-0.70.el5_6.1 started.

SELinux Invalid Context for Samba
We are running samba3 on a RHEL SELinux server and are constantly receiving (approximately a new one per every 6 to 12 seconds) invalid context message in /var/log/messages. This message disappears when setting SELinux to permissive. At no time is there an AVC entry being written to the audit.log file. I tried increasing the debug level for samba, but that didn't generate any additional

NTLM auth fails after upgrade to centos 5.6
Hi,
I upgraded a working centos5.5 with squid using ntlm auth to centos 5.6 today.
After doing so squid failed to authenticate. Downgrading samba3x to
samba3x-3.3.8-0.52.el5_5.2 got things working again.
In the squid config I have,
auth_param ntlm program /usr/bin/ntlm_auth --helper-protocol=squid-2.5-ntlmssp
in the squid config and this was working until the upgrade.
testparm shows no errors

passdb backend issue: setting other than 'smbpasswd' does not work
I'm currently running the samba3x packages on Centos 5.6. I recently switched to them from the SERnet Samba 3.3 packages to Centos Samba3x packages (smbd now reports Version 3.5.4-0.70.el5_6.1).
At the same time, I switched to ldapsam as a backend. Everything seemed to be working fine until I tried to change a user's password with smbpasswd (as root). smbpasswd did not report any

BDC constantly rebinds to master ldap server causing browsing delay
Hello,
I seem to be having an issue where one of my BDC servers constantly needs
to rebind to the "master" ldap server (ldap1.ae-solutions.com). Whenever
this happens I see several entries in the log like this:
"smbldap_search_ext: waiting 928 milliseconds for LDAP replication."
It appears to cause delay when browsing samba shares whenever this
happens. The master

the move a user can not write to the shared folders. When the file is
opened by the user "smbstatus" shows:

SMB Multichannel not working?
Hello,
I, like many before me, am having an issue with SMB multichannel. I am running Samba v4.10.16 (package is provided by Amazon) on an Amazon Linux 2 EC2 instance. I am aware that SMB multichannel is an experimental feature until 4.15, but the documentation states it is supported so I would like to evaluate it.
We have had reports of performance degradation when certain workloads (heavy

Can copy to test share, but not read, move or delete
I have a new SentOS 5 system and have been having problems with Samba.
I had been able to access my test share but not my home share.
Attempting to re-set thigns as describe by the "webmin configure samba"
info resluted in being able to see everything but the home shares. I
don't know if I could have copied or written to these other directories
- didn't try. Continued

new CentOS5.1, samba help requested
Hi all,
I'm fighting with samba on a new CentOS 5.1 install.
The goal here is to have unix/linux usernames/passwords used for the
samba shares (which i'll setup using webmin, as I find it easy that
way). At present, the home share and one for the company's public share
are in place.
I can see the server, browsing from WinXP to \\172.16.0.106, but
permissions seem amiss. I
