OpenSSH and stdin/stdout assigning
Hey, guys, I have a question about a difference between openssh 4.3 and 5.3. I have plenty of servers with RHEL5 and RHEL6. Most of RHEL5 servers have openssh-server version 4.3p2-72.el5_6.3 (kernel 2.6.39-100.7.1uek) And RHEL6 servers have 5.3p1-111.el6 (kernel 3.8.13-35.el6uek.x86_64) So there is the difference in assigning stdin and stdout for ssh connections. Openssh 4.3 assigns socket (I

OpenSSH and stdin/stdout assigning

ramdisk_size=9216 - but why?
All, My name is William Russell and I am setting up a PXE Boot server on RHEL6 to server RHEL5 & 6 network installations. I'm just trying to document and optimize my setup which I moved from a RHEL5 server. I noticed that I have "ramdisk_size=9216", but after a fruitless search online, I still don't understand why we chose 9MB - it seems so random. Many others have used

beta5 builds under RHEL
Hi, beta4 built under RHEL4, RHEL5 and RHEL6 (the latter being the public beta). beta5 now builds only for RHEL5, the other two fail with: strnum.c: In function `str_to_llong': strnum.c:139: error: `LLONG_MIN' undeclared (first use in this function) strnum.c:139: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once strnum.c:139: error: for each function it appears in.) Need help
Good morning. I need help getting Samba to work the way I would like it to work. Situation: I have two AD domains (2012R2), DOM-A and DOM-B. I have elected to not use any SFU or RFC2307 extensions as MS has depreciated those features. DOM-A has a group, "sysadmins", which has users in it. DOM-B trusts DOM-A. DOM-B also has a group "trusted_sysadmins", the member of which

udev works ok in CentOS 6.x??
Hi all, I have strange problem with my persistent names applied to iscsi disks. I have configured an udev rule to assign static iscsi disk names: KERNEL=="sd[a-z]", SUBSYSTEM=="block", PROGRAM="/sbin/scsi_id --whitelisted --replace-whitespace --device=/dev/$name", RESULT=="1iTGTDSK9a2c73ce654d0ca6", NAME="iscsi/sda"

Minimum python 2.7 (not on RHEL6) for Samba 4.7 AD DC?
G'Day, I've been looking at our minimum python version for the AD DC. We have some patches currently being proposed to help us become compatible with the modern Python3, and one aspect (PyCapsule) would be easier to do if we restricted Samba to requiring Python 2.7 as a minimum. The wrinkle comes from our good friends at Red Hat, which found itself caught with Python 2.6 on RHEL6.

puppet-cleaner: makes puppet DSL code comply with a subset of the style guide
FWIW, I''ve wrote puppet-cleaner to help me make comply thousands of lines of puppet 2.6 DSL code to puppet 2.7 style guide and expectations. I''m uploading it to github today for anyone to use. https://github.com/santana/puppet-cleaner Externally, you run puppet-clean file.pp and it can transform this: /* multiline comment trailing white space here -> */ class

Libvirt remote-client compilation for RHEL4
Hi, We are trying to compile Libvirt 1.02 from source for an RHEL4 target. Our virtualization hosts are running the fedora 17/ RHEL6 with the latest standard libvirt binaries. This is where VMs will be created. But our user/development machines are RHEL4 and we would like users to be able to use virsh/libvirt/python to control the Vms running on RHEL6/fedora17 remotely from the their RHEL4

Samba on RHEL 6: Permission denied when mounting FUSE partition
Hello, I am successfully connecting my Windows box to a RHEL 5 over SMB. This works for both mounting a regular share as well as (my own implementation of) a FUSE mountpoint. On RHEL 6 I can only mount a regular share, but not a FUSE mountpoint. I am getting a Permission Denied error. On both machines I have disabled firewall and I set SELinux to permissive. Does anybody know why this

RHEL6 beta vs. Xen
Has anyone yet figured out what it would take to make Xen run on top of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 beta? We are heavily invested in Xen under RHEL5 (actually a redhat clone) distribution, but already the xen kernel they are shipping with update 4 and 5 is shaky and has bugs which they don''t seem to be in a hurry to fix. Basically I am wondering if Redhat 6 is just going to have

Re: converted VMDK disk iamge and Virtio driver
virt-v2v is not an option for me as all I have are the VMDK images and don't have the VMware software to covert to OVA first. I really don't understand what is going wrong. I also found https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/20511 and that still doesn't work. Both /etc/fstab and grub.conf refer to the LABEL and not any device name. In the boot process I see it explicitly says it

undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass
I upgrade our infrastructure (mostly RHEL5, some RHEL6) from 3.1 to puppet-3.2.1-1.el5. Ruby sits at ruby-1.8.7.370-1.el5. I ran some tests and everything seemed good so I pushed it out. Since then, all my puppet clients are failing with this: Error: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER: undefined method `[]'' for nil:NilClass at
