Yes, after further research the solution could possibly be to create a python script to monitor the json output in log.samba and push out eventlog formatted events to 'Security' with eventlogadm. Seems a lot of work.
The appliance in question also supports getting the necessary info via the netapi call "netsessionenum" I have tried that and a wireshark dump shows samba replying

CUPS postscript driver - setting up **ERRATA**
Hi All,
Following instructions from here:
http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/docs/man/CUPS-printing.html#id2942237
and also in the "Official Samba Howto" book, I tried to install the CUPS PS
driver using cupsaddsmb.
It failed due to various reasons, and then I finally got it to work.
When I unpacked the latest tar.gz file (cups-samba-5.0rc3.tar.gz) it doesn't
unpack the files as:

Log rotation issue
Hi,
We recently migrated the samba-ad-dc from 4.6.5 to 4.7.1. Over a period
of last 15 days or so we have been observing that although the samba log
rotates, upon rotation, samba will start writing the logs to both the
main log file and the <main log>.old file simultaneously. While, the
main log file rotates properly, instead of deleting old file and create
a new one on rotation, samba

Evenlt Logging with AD DC
Hi,
I have installed the Samba AD DC Version 4.6.3 and we are trying to
enable Event Logging. We have followed the procedure given in
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Event_Logging. But I am unable to get
the Samba AD DC to write the events into Log. Also I am not able to
figure out where the directory and files are created.
We need to generate audit logs of Users and AD DC administrator

R package 'np' problems
Hi List,
I'm trying to get a density estimate for a point of interest from an npudens
object created for a sample of points. I'm working with 4 variables in total
(3 continuous and 1 unordered discrete - the discrete variable is the
character column in training.csv). When I try to evaluate the density for a
point that was not used in the training dataset, and when I extract the

Export authentication & authorisation logs to Windows Event Viewer
Hi,
Can we export the samba audit logs (Authentication & Authorisation Logs)
to Windows Event Viewer?
I am trying to export the authentication & authorisation logs to a
Windows Server to be shown in Windows Event Viewer. I read the link -
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Event_Logging. But couldn't follow much.
Can someone throw more light on the procedure, if it is possible?

Can join AD 2003 domain; can't list shares from other servers
I set up an old laptop with Xubuntu 9.10. I configured Samba as to work
with my Win2003 AD domain that has MS Services for Unix installed.
I can get a Kerberos ticket. I successfully added the laptop to the AD
domain. wbinfo -a shows me all users, domain and local. wbinfo -g shows
me all groups. wbinfo -a user%password returns successfully. "getent
passwd" works as expected - I see

so I sent you the dump separately. and i tried a persistent drive mapping to \\DC\netlogon which I figured should create a more permanent session as you described. That worked the same.

Recovery of RAIDZ with broken label(s)
Hi all,
I have a 5 drive RAIDZ volume with data that I''d like to recover.
The long story runs roughly:
1) The volume was running fine under FreeBSD on motherboard SATA controllers.
2) Two drives were moved to a HP P411 SAS/SATA controller
3) I *think* the HP controllers wrote some volume information to the end of
each disk (hence no more ZFS labels 2,3)
4) In its "auto

unable to see event viewer on DC
Hi
I am trying to enable auditing and see logs (events) on the DC (samba4
on debian jessie). I am trying to follow/understand
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Event_Logging [1] but with no success.
I have edited smb.conf and restarted samba daemon. When trying to
connect DC using event viewer on a windows server connected to the
domain as administrator user, I get error: The procedure number is

I set up Kerberos, and am getting a ticket. I have successfully joined
the domain.

Fix sharing ACL
I removed the vestments of the DC user.map.
I had already trying to reset the permissions, following this session:
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Shares_with_Windows_ACLs#Troubleshooting
When I try to reset the permissions as shown in the bottom page of the ACL Windows page, nothing happens.
