I have RHel6. How does that turn into Centos 6?
The bickering here about Centos 6 has made me wonder what is actually legally necessary to re-distribute the RPM files that come with RHel6. I am not starting a flame ware, I hope. I'm just curious about what is minimally necessary go from RHel6 to another distribution. I suppose we could discuss "Paul Linux 6" instead of Centos, if that makes you feel more comfortable. dsync inbox conversion problem (mbox -> mdbox)
Hi, We are trying to convert all mbox mail on our systems to mdbox using dsync, in order to be able to use email sub-folders in Thunderbird. Everything works fine for non-inbox folders, however the inbox folders are not getting converted. We used: *dsync -v convert mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u* *dovecot --version* 2.0.beta6 (3156315704ef) (shipping with RHEL6/SL6) *dovecot -n* #

Hi, This is just to report about the "alignment check: 0000 [#1] SMP" kernel messages in one of my build system (domU) running Scientific Linux 6.1. I am compiling/rpm package for sbcl (http://sbcl.sourceforge.net/) in my build system (domU) and hit the following kernel messages although the domU in question still running and compilation still in progress. I have done some searching

Smart-UPS staying in OB after power return
Hi list, UPS is a Smart-UPS 3000 RM (SU3000RM3U, ups.firmware 92.11.D, ups.mfr.date 12/14/99) with brand-new batteries. NUT is 2.6.5 running on SL6 (RHEL6 clone) from EPEL packages. 'upsc' output pasted at bottom. I'm not very familiar with UPSs in general or this model in particular, and it's doing things I don't expect. I have done my homework, and read UPS user manual,

Migrating from CommunigatePro to Dovecot - anyone done this?
Apologies if this is in the archive - did look but couldn't find it. Does anyone have any experience of migrating from CommunigatePro to Dovecot? We currently run CGP 5.3.4, supporting a small system (20 or so users, one domain). We've been using it for years, and have a mixed bag of MailDir and mbox folders accessed via IMAP clients. Some users have large mail accounts (15GB total).

Puppetmaster with apache/passenger on SL6
Dear experts, Since I''ve moved my *puppetmaster* form SL5 (Scientific Linux) to SL6 with SELinux on, I''m facing loads of trouble. I also move away from WEBrick to apache/passenger, following the instruction here: http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/1/wiki/Using_Passenger > and I can''t start httpd any more. It fails with this: Starting httpd: (98)Address

EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
I was wondering what feedback might be offered by the CentOS community on their experiences using Scientific Linux? I'm a long-time Centos user, and am basically happy with CentOS. I understand there are delays getting EL 6 out. We have been long anxious to roll out EL 6 as soon as it's ready, but our time window for rollout is looming and we will need to act. Please recommend a DVD writer for CentOS 4.1
Hi. I need to install DVD writers in a CentOS box as part of a backup setup. I want as little fuss as possible both with HW recognition and functionality. Can any of you recommend a vendor/product ? Performance of the drive is not an issue. I get confused looking at all the "+/-RW +R double layer yada yada" when skimming the hardware lists.. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Libvirt with multipath devices and/or FC on NPIV
Hello, I am trying to find out a best practice for a specific scenario. First of all I would like to know what is the proper way to set up multipath, who should care about it the host or the guest. Right now I have a setup where I have one multipath which sets my host to boot from FC SAN. I have another multipathed LUN in the host which is essentially a dm which I attached to a guest, however

immortal connections
I have several data input functions that include a construct like the following: indat <- function(stuff) { [...] awkp <- paste("awk ...yada yada...", stuff, etc.) scan(pipe(awkp),quiet=TRUE) } I use these functions a lot, and as I do, a lengthening list of closed, but undestroyed, connections accumulates. Ultimately this appears to stuff things up and cause
