Failed to find sambaDomain object to get sambaAlgorithmicRidBase
I didn't use smbldap-populate. I used ldif files to add groups to LDAP with
ldapadd.
You have rather good questions, NT4 or AD style, I don't know. I am a Unix
guy with very few knowledge in Windows stuff and I try to stay away from it
as much as I can. I have been asked to setup a new LDAP directory with
Samba passwords stored in this LDAP directory.
I base my work on an actual LDAP

Help with restrict anonymous = 2
I am trying to lock down Samba's null session accessibility by using the
"restrict anonymous = 2" setting but when I configure this option it
stops the test XP client from being able to logon in to the domain.
"restrict anonymous = 1" allows logins to work correctly but Samba still
shows some account information when checking with the GetAcct tool. I am

Netlogon
Hi,
I've just configure my Samba 3.0.7 as a PDC with an LDAP-based backend. Everthing seems fine except that my logon.bat is unable to execute when my users login to their XP. If I manually run //bilbo/netlogon/logon.bat on XP, the script will run without any problems. Is this purely a samba problem or it is due to my ldap configuration? Do I need to include ntconfig.POL in the netlogon

Throughput problem with Samba 3.3.4 over VPN
Hi,
I am currently in the process of improving performance for a Samba 3.3.4
server on FreeBSD 7.0. The samba server works great when mounted from
another machine located on the same network but when I try to use it
over our corporate VPN (OpenVPN with tap interface) the throughput won't
go over 4,5 Mbps. The ping between the samba client and the server is
around 20ms. I have used a linux

samba 3.2.3: win2k join fails, xp join works
Hi,
I recently upgraded my pdc server(samba3.0.x+ldap) to debian lenny(
samba 3.2.3).
After the upgrade, the win2k join is no longer working and returns
"Logon failure: the User Name unknown or bad password".
The Xp join works properly.
The same thing seems to be happen to other users; same problem and same logs:

program update made my shares no work anymore (ACL)
Hi,
i run a few samba shares successfully with CentOS 6.5.
I have a program (CAD) hosted on this server.
Since an upgrade i have some trouble make it work again.
If a user modifys an project only this user can open the project.
What i see is (for example):

drwxrwx---+ 2 admin bau 4 27. Aug 12:58 test2
doesn't work.

The problem I have is with profile syncronization. If a user obtains a file

Domain login across subnets
Greetings,
My envrionment is Samba 3.0.23d as a PDC, password backend is OpenLDAP 2.3.27,
running on SuSE 10.1; workstations are Windows XP SP2, all recent patches
applied. All machines are on the same Class B private IP network. Domain
logons function perfectly, performance is very nice. For security and performance
reasons we are looking at dividing the network into many VLANS, each with

Strange: Repeatedly lose domain functionality
Hello All
Since several weeks, we face a very strange problem with a samba pdc and ldapsam.
It repeatedly seems to loose its pdc functionality. This brings very strange behaviours.
The server is then already accessable (shares and browsing works as expected),
but the windows machines cannot make a domain logon anymore (has then a priori no effect because
they use their cached password),

samba member server auth issue
i currently have a samba pdc, samba bdc and samba member server all
running samba-3.0.23c-1.fc5. up until the 3.0.22 releases, i never had
any problems with users authenticating to member servers.
problem now is, a user from windows xp professional (which is part of
the domain) can auth to the pdc and bdc, but not to the domain member
server. the same thing happens from windows xp home (even
